Very interesting...

Hopefully someone in the US starts a Group Buy.  I'd be in for a few.

Wow these are terrible specs. Zero improvement from the other 7 series.

s9 - 14th = $1415
a761 - 8.8th = $1400

Sure seems like a no brainer to me. Even if your S9 arrived with a dead board it is still a better value than this machine. When you consider you also need a controller to run the Avalon the deal gets even worse.

What a disappointment.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

PSU included though...that is part of the issue.

Why a Group buy? Canaan has 2, count 'em, 2 distributors here in the US and is the only way buyers will have OEM warranty protection.

Previous group buy was tried by philipma1957 and he is the best guy for the job.
But the group buy got frozen, Canaan did not want to accept BTC payment.

It is better just to use your local official distributor.

I bought one A741 with controller and psu from my local (Europe) distributor Cryptouniverse and it arrived smoothly in yesterday.

The picture is the 741.  I wonder what it looks like with the PSU integrated.

Includes PSU, more sensible power draw for non-data center mining, not bitmain, sounds like a winner to me.

Noticed it earlier as well but Canaan have constantly been saying no specs have been released for the A8 yet and there's still none as proven by their products page. Not even price is shown and the page looks like a paste of the A7 page with a few things changed here and there. At least we know it exists for sure now.

FALSE ALARM !

Nick at Blokforge says these will be for the Chinese market, the US is getting the 8's.

Regardless, i'd take an Avalon @ 9.5TH/s over an S9.

Canaan emailed out the baseline specs of the 8xx 2 months ago, 14 TH/s @ 1300watts which will equate to probably 16 TH/s and with an integrated power-supply US$1,500 would be a mighty fine price-point!

I have it on VERY good authority that those are not even close to the final specs.

Because special customers get info before the general public. I was told I would be given the unit price by December 20th. Maybe thats when they are publicly announcing them?

Does anyone has an idea of when the first batch in 2018 becomes available?
