My rig have this setup:
- ATX PSU: Powers motherboard and 3 GPUs
- Server PSU: Powers up 5 GPUs using breakout board from DeepInTheMines (soon to be replaced with a ParallelMiner Rev8)
- GPUs: 8x Vegas 56
I followed the recommended procedure to connect the risers to the PSU where the GPU is connected.
Today I woke up and noticed that my rig was shutdown for unknown reason, so the ATX wasn't powering anything but the Server PSU with the breakout board was still on and so the GPUs, but the fans were not spinning. According to the logs of the miner, it was like that for around 1hr. I touched the GPUs and they were pretty hot, around 75°C maybe.
I want to prevent this but not sure how it is possible having an ATX and Server PSU. I know you can bridge two PSU, so when one shutoff the other too, but to my understanding that's only with ATX PSUs.
Does anyone knows how I can prevent this scenario again? I don't want to fried my GPUs when I need to leave my rig unattended for days (which is something I'll do in a week).
Weird. When my motherboard is off, all my cards remain running, but the fans spin still
