Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

I like how this article is too concise in relating how people from different walks of life get involved and get through cryptocurrency. But you know, I think the driving force that makes these people eager in learning and eventually surviving the demands of cryptocurrencies is to earn huge bucks. Some mistake it as easy money. Well, cryptocurrencies are definitely not for everyone. When they are here for the wrong reasons, they will never make it through.
