What is humanity's purpose?

As the first and possibly only species to become sentient and to truly control our species' destiny we have the unique opportunity of asking ourselves. What should we do?
I don't mean what is your individual purpose.
What should sapiens, humans, terrans, as a whole, be aiming to do?

The purpose of humanities is to help us understand each other.Research and exploration about the world  we learn and develop .Through this humanities we develop democracy.

As individuals, we obviously have to find our own purpose. As a specie though, opinions differ. For example, there are those that maintain that our prime objective should be to leave Earth and expand humanity across the universe.

IMHO, we should start closer to home first, extending the usable life of our planet and alleviating suffering, establishing a common human community that would be essential once we start colonizing space.

Yeah doing both is a must. We can't colonise space without unifying as a species (getting rid of nation states) but we can't hedge our bets on just being  a one planet species. We might get done in by an asteroid or some things random (or us).

We should be aiming to keep it as such. By keeping it as such i mean we ve got to first of all make sure the earth we hold so dear and aim to control all it inhabitants must be kept safe, Issues of global warming are real and if care is not taken, there will be no planet for us to be sentient or have a great control over anymore. Secondly, i look at the need for us to play safe. To play safe, i mean we have to be sure we dont get over ourselves by doing things that will relinquish power to our own creations. I believe AI comes to mind then. Doing this will sustain our reign for a long time

As a human, we should be aiming to be a creature that innovates through our knowledge. We should be able to invent new things that can help all of the rest of humanity in general. We should cooperate and help each other to be able to improve faster. Humanities purpose is to live. While living we should make the best of it by doing things that can help the whole society to have a greater world.

This question is highly subjective and what I think others may not and vice versa. Most people will probably say the purpose of life is to recreate and that makes sense from a biological standpoint. My view is different and I think the purpose of life is to live and experience as many things as humanly possible. But that is how and why I live not everybody will agree of course.

This requires a very complex answer but to make it simple humanity's purpose is to live the word of God or to do good to everyone and to respond positively to every situation. It is not easy because of the different factors that hinders us to stay positive all the time but once we realize we have surpass all the stages in life it is indeed fulfilling.
