Maybe you are right, but look at the charts and on the bitcoin/usd rate comparison.

On long term, bitcoin has increased more than altcoins just in price.

Maybe a few months ago when litecoin was $50, the price in Btc of each litecoin was over 0.05

Now each litecoin is 0.02 aproximately, but if you kept holding those bitcoins instead of buying bitcoin you could have much more money right now, there is the trick.

that is the reason of why i only buy altcoins for short term or just for trading purposes.

Yeah but bitcoin is more reliable long term and people want stability in an otherwise crazy market. The volatile nature of bitcoin is enough to even make aggressive Forex traders run for the hills you can only imagine what it will and does do to the average person.

Of course if you pick the right alt coins yes, but that is a difficult task in itself, with bitcoin you've got a safer bet. Most people who trade alts look to do so alongside bitcoin or even trading bitcoin to alts to try and increase their bitcoin holding. Bitcoins dominance was as high as 80% at the beginning of the year and as low as about 30% in the middle of the year before recovering now to sit about 50% this alone can show you there is variance involved and simply saying one is better than the other is maybe a short term way of thinking.

You are correct that many altcoins have the ability to multiply a few times in terms of price but you should also consider that they usually get rekt when BTC makes a bull run, always. You could make great money from altcoins but you could also lose a lot of it when you enter in the wrong price. Both of them have their ineherently risks but using the information in the past, BTC has always the greatest profit in my portfolio. And I just get that profit by just holding BTC, without any human intervention like day trading, etc.

The only way that you can earn money if you invest in bitcoin is just by holding for some time. But you are expecting too much.

You are just trying to put a few dollars in there and have them multiplied for one, two, three times in just a period of a feew weeks, and that is not possible.

If you want to have those returns, then put that money into an ICO, probably this will be the only way that you can double or triplicate your money in just a few days or weeks after they get released on an exchange.

I somewhat agree to your statement but not completely. Bitcoin has gone out of the reach of normal people like me.  So a small investor can't invest small amount in bitcoin because transaction fees will eat up all his profits. So it is wiser for small investors to invest in altcoins with good future potential. It will save up in transaction fees and increase the profitability.

However, nothing has changed for whales though. Bitcoin is still the best choice for cash rich investors.

Litecoin is the worst choice, better go for ethereum. Bitcoin will probably surprise you though, it could surpass them all so don't underestimate it.

Bitcoin being a superior coin is a bit obvious. And everyone know why I guess. Being the first coin in an industry gets to be the face of cryptocurries which will gain all the interest of people. That is why more people are in to bitcoin. Relatively, if many are into bitcoins, then its harder to disappear within a week or month. If people will withdraw their bitcoins you will not be ending up with Zero meaning Long Term.
While in altcoins, cheaper because it has lesser demand than bitcoin. The risks are some butcoin users use alts just to profit daily or weekly then withdraw instantly, that is why before, prices are a bit stable.  At present, some are getting to alts because they can actlually using alts because they can't afford bitcoins.
Frankly, Alts can be a long-term coin too like bitcoins. And I am expecting to see that in the near future.

It is still a best choice to invest with Bitcoin. It is just the transactions that gives a lot of problem. I do believe it will be fixed. Give it some time.

Okay let us say the other ones are like bullets when it comes to usage but have they experience an overload with all the transactions? If that happens, will the speed be the same?
Problem is only bitcoin knows that. They havent gone through enormous amount of transactions because they dont have much supporters like bitcoin.

Have you seen the price of these altcoins a few months ago? see that ETH was over 0.07 btc, today it is below 0.05 btc. Waves was 0.0013 btc, today it is below 0.001btc. Lisk was 0.00165, see that Lisk which cost 0.00022 btc had a great increase of the price to the point of reaching the 0.00050 btc and then increased to 0.00165 and I remember that at the time they were celebrating because many people who like lisk believed that with the Rebranding the price would go to more than 0.003 btc, but what you can see now is the price of 0.00065 btc, stratis, Qtum were at very high prices and today they drop a lot. If you make altcoins for dollars it seems that they are very high, but check the prices in relation to bitcoin and two months ago... you realize that it would have been much better if only the person had bought bitcoin and just hold

Its actually somewhere true as bitcoin is out of the reach from average person now i remember i used to pay 6 bucks of my web hosting account every month with bitcoins which now i cant, if i want to pay my bill of 6 bucks with bitcoins i have to pay 16 bucks as almost $10 is the fee of the transaction, its not good for small industry.

Bitcoin is not for small everyday purchases as of now... You can make small transactions but you should be lucky with the fees or use an accelerator or to pay really high fees. It only worths the time/cost/effort if you are in a real need. Else, you can just hold your bitcoins and use your fiat instead, if you can, and expect bitcoin to grow more. I have bought a few years ago a coke with bitcoin. I don't want to calculate now, what is the price of that coke, if I calculate it with the exchange rate today...

It may be true but bitcoin is more trustable than other altcoins.Bitcoin has overcome lots of critical situations in th past while we actually don;t know whether other altcoins could overcome such situations or not.Bitcoin is liked not only for its increasing price,but also for the additional features it provides like secured nature,etc.
