Hiya,

I have a mint brass 2012 Casascius 1BTC fully loaded (ungraded but has never been out of capsule) that I would like to sell for sterling.

I don't want to sell for BTC as I haven't the time or energy to sell off parts to convert to fiat and have never found a good enough exchange to withdraw into UK funds (have I missed something).

Any ideas/offers to avoid going to fleabay (although it might come to that - in which case, wondering out loud, what reserve price would one set - current BTC value x 1.6 ?...?)

Sell of parts?

Sell your "mint" condition coin here, on this forum, funded. You'll get 1.2-1.5BTC for it and then you can exchange the BTC you receive as payment for your beloved sterling.

Don't forget to use an escrow, there are several reliable escrow options on this forum.

Reserve price would be under 1.6 as that's a bit high right now for the 2012, and I would say even tighter to spot if you are looking for strictly a sterling trade as most do business here in crypto.  Either way good luck

It's safer to sell the coin, loaded, on this forum than via eBay. eBay is notorious for being super risky for sellers. I've tried to argue the opposite side of that debate and was largely destroyed by well known folk here who insist that using eBay for these transactions will open the seller up to all sorts of risks.

You should set the reserve at 1BTC and watch the hype grow.

There's also BCH and BTG that could be claimed if the coin was ever unloaded, but there's a variety of opinion on how that fact should influence sale price.

Thanks Hab & wheelz. Take your point about safe selling. My only
problem is with that phrase “exchange the BTC”
for sterling. I don’t know a way to do that. Withdrawing Btc funds into UK bank accounts seems particularly difficult.

Any ideas, anyone ?

You could always sell the BTC on Localbitcoins to someone in the UK, should be easy enough.

Otherwise.. find a silver bug and trade with them, although most of them on here are probably in the US so you'd face import taxes and VAT charges..

It's kind of dangerous to do direct fiat trades with individuals, because in rare cases I've heard of bank transfers being reversed (after someone claimed fraud had taken place). That being said, if someone has a decent reputation (lots of positive trades) on the forum, you should be safer. I have used coincut.com quite a few times to convert bitcoin into fiat and they have been reliable - although they can sometimes take a few hours to complete trades. They are a registered UK company based in London. This way you will get the best price for your coins and be able to convert it yourself.

I can pay you via international wire transfer in British pounds. .  You will need to send me good photos of both sides of the coin before we can discuss price.

PM to sort details if you would like, if not no worries.

To Stibit, this offer is worthy of your consideration ONLY if you owe someone money tomorrow. You could hold out for significantly more if you're patient. Like thousands of pounds more. TMAN is trying to get a cheap deal out of you.

Do what you will - the market should be efficient. If you can't wait, take her offer, but you should really hold out for better.

Cheers.

Getting people to do fiat offers is very tough, I would consider this a fair offer for doing bank to bank transfer

Thanks all - I have PM'd Lesbian Cow who seems to be a trusted and knowledgable collector.  We will no doubt agreed a sensible price. I don't owe anyone money tomorrow but I don't think the builders I am hoping to get to do my roof take BTC. Does anyone have knowledge of methods for physical escrow ?  Or do you just deal with the known members, f-2-f ?

I second this. Fiat offers are very risky. Given that TMAN is ready to do it, it is because TMAN is using an escrow which makes it easier both for buyer and seller.

All the best.

P.S. I want to be an escrow in UK.. how do I start? Some low value coins first?

Build your reputation and continue being an active member. You don't just get handed escrow, even then you have to consider the responsibility that you have to take as an escrow.
