Boosting a HP 8200 i7 box - suggestions, please

Hello dear community,

I've got a HP 8200 i7 box at home. If I'm not mistaken, the specs are the following:

I would like to start mining, and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind recommending a few relatively profitable coins to begin with (to simplify the question, let's not consider electricity bills as an obstacle). I'm open to suggestions regading expanding the setup with multiple GPUs or CPUs.
For CPU-based mining, I think some potential candidates are:
- XMR, XZC, GNT, SIA, VRM, DSH

Definitely not considering BTC or LTC, as I think they belong to a completely different category, where mining is done on a quasi-industrial scale. I might be wrong about the former though.

build a dedicated mining rig simple as that, iunno why you noobs think using your pc is a good idea. when it comes to mining those cases have shit for ventilation and its just torture for the gpu. ya want to mine build a rig with an open air frame, get good gpus

Is it an absolute no-no for mining even small-time (currently) alts with a PC? My intention was to not necessarily go into a 24/7 spree, but mostly get myself familiar with the software, methodology etc.

Thing is that if you only mine part time you may never have mined enough to reach payout value ... and thus torturing GPUs for no reward !

If you really want to go that way, keep case open and keep as much space as possible between GPUs.
