This is a sad day for Ethereum and its followers, and it is the Cryptokitties' fault. I reckon those cute little kittens should now be developed and released in all blockchain platforms like NEO, QTUM and Ethereum Classic as a scalability test.

The Cryptokitties' catchphrase should be Cryptokitties, coming to a blockchain near you. Ph33r us.

Mobile messaging startup Kik is planning to shift its Kin token network from ethereum to Stellar, CEO Ted Livingston confirmed on Wednesday.

Speaking in a live question-and-answer session on YouTube, the company's founder argued that ethereum's blockchain – which the app is presently based on – is unable to scale to the level that Kin needs, among other issues. The answer, he said, is to shift to the Stellar network, first unveiled in 2014 and created by Ripple co-founder Jed McCaleb.

Livingston went as far as to blast ethereum as "the dial-up era of blockchain," noting that gas prices – which are needed to execute computations – and other transaction fees need to be built into the app to ensure users' transactions go through. Kik first announced it was contemplating a move onto another blockchain in October, stating that ethereum's scaling issues meant it "might not be the right solution" at the time.

In Wednesday's video, Livingston said Kin was pushing the limits of what ethereum could handle with its roughly 10,000 users. The network's reliability is another factor in the planned move, he said, pointing to recent network congestion as a result of the popular CryptoKitties app.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I think this is a good thing for the space, not because is leaving Ethereum but just to see what this other alternative platform can offer other than ethereum, I know most of these developers choose Ethereum because it is very easy to raise fund through ICO on it and not more

Hopefully this is just a plan, for fans Ethereum maybe this is shocking news.So far, the Ethereum platform is already supported by 6400 interconnected servers. This figure does not vary much with the Bitcoin support server whose number is 7,400.But what happens now..

CrptoKitties has made it more expensive to transact in ETH, it will be interesting to see if they are able to overcome this bottleneck with their plans to migrate from PoW to Pos.

Did the kitties just killed ethereum? oh yes it is the developers are not good enough to maintain its network stability.

Yeah let's hope that, still I think their situation is better than BTC. ETH was having almost lightning level transcation speed few weeks ago and this happened all of sudden. Really disappointing, I hope this doesn't kill ETH as whole.

Im really fan Ethereum. I hope the others will not do the same. By the way about CrptoKitties , if they were on NEM(from interview of ambassador NEM), NEM would not even notice their.

If the best development team in the cryptospace, which is working on bitcoin, has not found a real effective way to scale then I do not see how a development team of lower capability can scale Ethereum.

In any case, the Ethereum development team will keep telling their followers that something big is coming, the same way ICO developers do.

It is unfortunate if Ethereum lost Kik in their blockchain but yes the scaling problem in Ethereum does interfere with the needs of some ICO projects in their Blockchain. Hopefully Ethereum can solve this problem so as not to lose the project that has been built on their platform

Take this bit of news with a grain of salt. Kik is not a project who is in a position at all to be given any importance.

If you ask me, Kik is a failure. It screwed over ICO investors who ended up with losses amounting to more than 50%. Nobody even uses Kik. The only offerings that are on their are those made by the kik team as well. Poor implementation and poor marketing and now they have to result to badmouthing ethereum just to get noticed. Pathetic project.

If ethereum lose kik then it price may dropped very soon as this will be a big fund pull out and others tokens may follow soon becouse of this scalling problems. I have been following this issue and it is now became reality, this is really bad!

Cryptokitties is just one project on the Ethereum blockchain. Imagine if all the other projects got as successful as Cryptokitty is, it probably going to be an even bigger disaster.

It's about time for Ethereum to scale by allowing more transactions with lower fees.

Ethereum could easily lose the popularity due to the scale problem. Cryptokitties just naked this problem once again. There are many another smart contract platforms and ETH is really in danger now.

agreed. Imagine if another project with kitties starts and is just as popular.

Ethereum needs to scale fast as there are so many ICOS now running on the Ethereum blockchain and a plethora of erc20 tokens in the mix. I wouldn't worry though too much about KICK though as it's not a colossal project that will be missed much by the ICO flippers and punters. The price is really down anyway and people have got their eyes on other shinier projects to be honest. I hope ETHEREUM don't start infighting and the problems the BTC crowd had in coming to a consensus about scaling, that would bode disaster for sure n my books.

Just to be fair with Ethereum,  other smart contract has never been tested yet in reality compared to ETH, our only basis in other smart contract is just a theory and just base on a piece of paper.

No Matter what changes happen within Ethereum , I am pretty sure that even if Ethereum dies , it will get back up again or probably respawn. I just read this somewhere , they were saying that Ethereum is more secure compared to Bitcoin. And this line made me read more about it . So basically they were talking about its decentralisation and all . If someone knows about which news I'm talking about then please quote the link below .

Yes this is very interesting, and I`ve expected such a reaction of big ETH blockchain customers to the recent problems, so let`s see how Buterin will solve the questions he is facing now
