I think it would be pretty great exposure for bitcoin, if someone knowledgeable about the internal workings of bitcoin were to submit a proposal to OSCON 2011 (http://www.oscon.com/oscon2011) for a talk about bitcoin. The place is full of all kinds of FOSS ethusiasts, and besides the costs of making your way to Portland, Oregon, USA, it would be completely free (I think).

So... anyone up for it? Gavin, Jgarzik, Theymos? Bueller? Smiley

I've given presentations about similar topics at conventions like this, and it would be fun.  The important thing to note is that the deadline for submissions is on February 7th, 2011.  That date is coming up real fast and you'd have to be available to make it to Portland, Oregon in late July.  If I were single and without a family to support, it would be something I'd commit to right now.  Unfortunately I have other considerations that may make it harder for me personally.

Yes, this is something worth bringing up, and I hope that somebody in the community strongly considers this venue for presenting information about Bitcoin.  It would be well worth the effort and Portland isn't too bad in July.... certainly worth the trip if only for the scenery and seeing that part of the western USA if you aren't from the area.

There's a narrow possibility I could be there too, and have given talks at most of the other major conferences before... So if I am, then I'd definitely jump in with a talk on the project im involved with atm Smiley

I'd be interested in putting something together and attending.  However, I do not want to go it alone.  If someone has a good idea about what exactly we should prepare/present, let me know (PM to get my attention) and we can start working on it.

I'm a bit young but I would love to get involved in such an effort.
