School Uniform

Is uniform really necessary to students? Do we really need to formalize students to study? In most asian countries many require School uniform, mostly because of distinction of schools. However in the US, students can wear whatever they want for as long as they follow the dress code of the school on what is considere appropriate. What are your thoughts in this matter, do we really need school uniforms for students? Give some specific reasons why or why not.

I'm torn regarding this. In a way, I would prefer to not wear my school uniform so that I can be more relaxed or have freedom to go wherever I go without being tagged as a student of x school/uni. But I would also like to agree that school uniforms are important to put a certain distinction to a student and in that way, a student will be mindful about his/her actions, whereabouts since he/she is representing the school/uni itself. Plus, it's also another problem solved right away, since it's so hard to figure out what to wear everyday in school. You will have to buy lots of clothing/footwear to mix and match.

I think it depends entirely with the educational institutions. School uniforms distinguish
the identity that corresponds with it’s reputation and quality in terms of education and
academia. I do think it’s important though it sends out a message of uniqueness. It also
shows discipline and order, you’re not gonna wear a uniform forever might as well try it
and live through it in highschool and preschool.

In my country, students from pre-school to university wear uniforms. I think uniform is required so that the students are distinguished which schools they are enrolled to. But in the university, there are some courses that dont require uniforms, like Engineering. Uniforms can also help because the students act and behave properly since they are wearing the school's pride and identity.

in my opinion school uniforms need to be used for students, uniforms need to minimize social gaps against students. and eastern culture is very different from the west.

The purpose of school uniform , it gives the identity to the students so that people know which school they are. And another reason is  if everyone is wearing the same outfit there is a less chance that someone would be bullied because of the poor looking outfit. They also reduce issues with "dress code" and having to argue with parents and students about what is appropriate to wear in school.

I agree that they can be boring. But in the schools, such "boring" uniforms are a necessity, as we need strict discipline in such institutions. Schools are not a place to show-off your expensive designer clothes and jewelry.

Yes i think school uniform is necessary to wear of every student, because if you wear school uniform you are easily notice that you are a student and distinguished the school where you from. This is necessary so that every student look formal and uniform by wearing same kind of clothes.

I think it's necessary specially to those elementary pupils. It is easier to identify them when they are in the crowd outside the school. It is also a good way to discipline students so they know what is the proper dress in school and soon in the office.

However, in college, I don't think that it is necessary (besides, there are free days in school when you are not required to wear a uniform), as long as it's decent enough that they won't look like a bystander in the subways.

students don’t have to worry about peer pressure when it comes to their clothes. When everyone is dressed the same, worrying about what you look like isn’t so important. There is no competition about being dressed in the latest trend, which would put a great deal of financial pressure on students and parents.
