Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Put up a bitcoin address, because people can send you bitcoins.

You should specify why you want to accept bitcoins.  Knowing what you're using them for could help in the implementation.

I cannot vouch for any of these but here are a couple:

Pretty much this. You can overcomplicate it with a 'payment gateway', but know that every extra click on the way reduces the chance of a donation.

If it's a WordPress blog I would suggest this. If it's a shop, I would suggest BitPay or another merchant to minimize the risk of volatility.

Any recommends?  And  why?

I like WooCommerce + Bitpay plugin. This is what we just used to add acceptance of BTC last week at:

http://synergeticpress.com

Why?

  • Bitpay lets you instantly turn sales into 100% USD or 50%/50% USD/BTC, etc. - not bad for a  1% fee.
  • Bitpay payments and notifications are sometimes confusing/messed up and woocommerce gives you a good server-side backup of each order
  • It just works. And you're using the two biggest players in the field (woo for ecommerce, bitpay for BTC) so there's a decent chance neither half of the solution will go belly-up in just a few months.

Also my current set-up. I've got nothing but praise for BitPay.

Any re-occuring billing options?

I noticed that coinbase has one, however, coinbase is currently only available for US.  I'm looking for an international option.
