I assume it is legal but I want nothing to do with it.

There are a lot of legal things I find to be quite shady in nature, and OpenCoin is one of them.

they function almost like a clearinghouse

not sure why ppl think that is illegal or a scam.... but hey with the quality of education rapidly falling in the usa, i will not be surprised if in 10 years your average 20 year old will not know the difference between an apple and an orange.

I still don't get XRP. Judging by the way it was introduced, hyped, pumped, and dumped, it sure looks suspicious. Before you flame with an appeal to authority fallacy by telling me that bazillionaire investors are backing it, remember that some bazillionaires go to jail too.

Any significantly advanced cryptocurrency is indistinguishable from Ponzi Tulips.
