I was doing some research and found [ this article ] on calculating coins per day... but I tried it and am not getting accurate results.

I understand, or I think I understand, the math behind it... but where do the values come from? The hashrate is pretty obvious as it's one of the few metrics we're always looking at in the miner... But where do you get the difficulty, block reward, and exchange rates from?

Could somebody walk me through it once? Let's say I'm mining VertCoin (Lyra2v2) on HashRefinery, Zpool, or something at a rate of 11.9 MH/s...

Then my math would be something like:

Code:
             86400 * Block Reward * (11.9 * 1000000)
VertCoins = -----------------------------------------
                     difficulty * 4295032833

USD Per Day = VertCoins * ExchangeRate

Where do I get the block reward, difficulty, and exchange rate values from?

Thanks! Smiley

Ok, I see exchange rates on there which it's obviously pulling from various exchange APIs... I also see block reward on there, but where does it get that value from?

Basically, I'm trying to understand the equation behind these calculations to better understand how everything ties together. Right now, that website seems to be performing some sort of voodoo magic because I don't know where it's getting it's numbers from (aside from the exchange rates)...

Would appreciate it if someone could share their knowledge and wisdom on the topic.

Coins typically have one or several block explorers that you pull that data from. You can go to www.coinmarketcap.com and search for the coin you are interested in and get links to block explorers, or just Google "Vertcoin block explorer" and you should get what you need.
