Hey guys, just wanted to pick some crypto brains here.

Friends mined Ether few months back, was on BTC-E, we know what happened.
Came back as WEX, gave "money" back, they transfered to Etherwallet on pc 42 days ago.
3 days ago, want to transfer to exchange but wallet not synced, so start sync wallet at 11:43PM and goes to bed.
next day wallet show 0 Ether...
check Etherscan and shows transfer at 12:20AM (40 min later) to 2 different adresses before landing in an adress with over 16 million in Ether...

any ideas? leads? things to look for or not?
anyone's time and opinion is greatly appreciated.

The wallet adress in question
0x55a95f7cbf14e02c6e918231b5596a7ee2aaeb18

EDIT :
I know we can not know who owns an address and all that stuff.
Since my low knowledge in mining and wallets and all, im looking more for something in the lines of :
"its the bug from Nov, but it shows now cuz you synced" or
"yes, that address is an exchange for sure due to x reason"

It can only be a display issue If you can't see the same amount in a blockexplorer and that's not the case. The likely scenario here is that you got hacked and someone sent the funds to an exchange. (first his deposit address and then funds moved to the main exchange wallet).

This is a Bitcoin forum and your question is about an Ethereum wallet. I think you will get better answers if you ask on an Ethereum forum such as https://forum.ethereum.org

Ask in the Altcoin discussion board and you'll be more likely to get an answer. Or, as suggested, an Ethereum-specific forum.

Have you try to contact the people form WEX?
With 16 million ETH I would say ether a lot of people got scamed and you must find a lot more information about that, or they are just holding the money for some reason and are waitng for a mail, or a click in your user account, missing click in the withdraw email ...
Have you heard form other people loosing there money there?
I would not panic an try to contact several times if neccessary.
Good Luck

First, thanks for all the replies.
Second, I am not familiar with Ether at all, I am doing this research for a friend. So MY first stop was here as I am familiar with this place and the great people that form this community. In the end, I was looking for "help".

I am more of the "investor" type, never really mined and all that. Wich explains my lack of knowledge with wallets.

With the suggestions, he has contacted WEX and waiting to see if anything can be explained from their end.
But from what I have read, learned and seen, it does not look good.

All I can say is I am very surprise at how easy it could be to steal with this whole cryptocurrency thing. People may push for this over banks, but at least the bank will cover my losses if I get "robbed"... just saying.

Also found really odd that the mist wallet calls for an update when there is none...

-1 for crypto in my book.
