Hi Salish,
This is Jeff and I too would like to be able to get out of Newb prison. I completely understand the thinking behind these rules, but imagine my surprise (after reading posts for a couple of months) when I actually wanted to submit a reply - and I was unable too.
I'm sure that a lot of folks are in this same position. I'm trying to get out this weekend, so that I can state my interest in an ASIC custom hardware job. I have to admit, I'm really impressed with this forum - they don't mess around. You'd better be in for the long haul and be troll-free. So I write not with anger in my heart, just the desire to break free and prove my heartfelt desire to be a member of this community.
One thing though, I must admit that when I first signed up - the forum was clear about the posting requirements. However, I had forgotten them until the day (yesterday) that I was trying to post a reply. I took me (and I'm embarrassed by this) hours to figure out what I was doing wrong. Perhaps it would be useful for the newbies to have additional reminders available (perhaps easier to find in the FAQ) as to why you can't post.
Anyway, going to see about posting some more places - and I like the idea of these online meet and greets.
