Chrome tab XMR Miner

Hello,
I have made an Google Chrome extension to simply mine XMR with each new tab you open.

Why would I use this over a normal XMR miner?
Pardon my ignorance but this seems a bit pointless. It basically uses your own computer right? So what advantage does this have over conventional XMR miners?
Is this miner CPU-only? Does it create a separate thread for each Chrome tab that you have open?
