Hi all I've been mining for a while now but only with one GPU on my computer.
I am setting up three mining rigs with a total of 48 AMD RX 580 GPU's
What's the best OS to use and service?
Should I set up the OS with Windows or Linux?
If Linux what is the best pool service to use for this?
Thanks for any help that can be offered.
As for the rigs, I'm building the frames from Aluminum
Each rig will have 16 AMD RX 580 Two 1500W power supplies ASUS B250 ATX Motherboard 8 gig's ram 500 gig ssd
Any advice on the rigs wold be appreciated also.

For a 19 card build, the Asus B250 mining expert REQUIRES using at least six Nvidia P106 mining cards if you want to run more than 13 cards. You don't need a 500 GB SSD for a mining rig and it's just a waste of money. A 128 GB is plenty if you want to run Windows or a 32GB USB 3.0 flash drive is plenty for running a Linux based mining distro like ethOS or smOS.

I have not bought the motherboards yet.
Should I scrap that idea since I already have 50 RX 580 GPU?
What about running 9 Gigabyte GA-H110-D3A motherboards?
Possibly running 6 TB250-BTC+ Ver. 6.x
Can I get away with the I3 chip to save money or will I need to have a stronger chip?
What can I reduce the ram down to 4 gig on the motherboard?

@treanski I was just asking if 8gb of ram on the motherboard was necessary.
Since I screwed up and bought all the AMD cards and my plan was to build 3 rigs I need to figure out money
I'll have to buy additional motherboards to use all AMD cards, GPU, Power... I was looking for a few cost-cutting ideas and was curious if 8 gigs is overkill on something that basically does all its work with the GPU. If not I will buy more ram.
That would be 4 gigs on each motherboard not 8 total between all of them.
If I wanted cheap I would just go to China and buy a fake 1080 TI for $65. I'm not doing that and spending a lot on all of the cards.

i would recommend you to buy a i3 or i5 cpu and 8gbram or more, because u will not always stick to one coin or one algo. there are coins that need share verification on cpu, or the miner need alot of Ram. You wont find this coins on whattomine, but maybe sometime you will learn whats really profitable i bought a cheap celeron because everybody said fuck the cpu, i wont do it again

@treanski I have the purchase order for 48 AMD RX 580 but I'm trying to figure out how to set things up now. I need to transfer the money tomorrow but it's got me wondering how to move forward.
I have two investors and I am to make 3 full rigs with 16 GPU Each.
Do I change my order to 24 AMD (finding a reputable source for 48 of them was hard enough) and try to find a supplier to sell me 24 P106 or should I try to split things up and run the 6 TB250-BTC+ Ver. 6.x that handles 8 GPU each.. problem I'm having there is finding those Motherboards. I can find the 13gup and the 6 GPU versions but I can only find the 8 GPU versions on the manufacturer's website no one I can find sells them.
As I add additional motherboards the cost goes up.
Also, a question, if I can get the Nvidia 1060, will that work in place of the P106 since they are essentially the same graphics cards.
Sorry for being stupid there but I don't want to screw it up.

the asus b250 can handle 19 gpus, why dont you go for them?
and regarding 1060, i dont have nvidia but i dont think there is a big differenece betweed the p106 and the "gaming" gpus it will work
i personaly i would not go for the 1060...they do around 300sols@equihash but only 600@cryptonight. if u want to go for nvidia, then do it right and go for 1080ti, much more pofitable in the long run
rx580 can do also 300+sols@equihash but with good biosmod 900-1000hs@cryptonight, 29-30@daggerhashimoto

@treanski I wish I could afford 1080TI but unfortunately, it's not in my budget for what I'm building.
I want to make sure I can use 1060 in place of the p106-100 cause I can't return them if they don't work with that motherboard.

Atleast 8GB ram stick per RIG is adviced as you won't save much with 4GB. Still 4G will be fine for most of the time. I don't think you really need powerful CPU as its more about CPU , even intel G4400 will do nice for any rig.
However, the thing you need to know is that modding and tuning all those RX580 could be pain in ass , that I learned hard way. If you are lucky, all have SAMSUNG memory then will be quite easy , if they are mix like Elpida, Hynix then you will have little hard time tuning all and finding stable set.
And choose OS in which you are comfortable, but somehow windows is apt for modding thing.. I find myself quite familiar with linux (and my preferred) but setting up RX580 with modding and fine tuning) is real pain in ass with linux. But for Nvidias, its cool . However, there are other linux mining os like SimpleMining etc. check them in other threads.
Lastly, always have a spare test rig or motherboard, it will help you to reduce downtime as you add new card or fine tune a existing one.
And yes, 120 GB SSD is more than enough, you can even do away with 32 GB USB drive (and is strongly advised if you are linux)
And get a "KIllawatt" meter just for making sure you have your rig working as you needed.

bulllshit if u run 18gpus / rig a 120gig ssd will not be enough for virtual memory on cryptonight and equihash aswell

On a different note... anyone knows what's up with Awesome Miner? For some reason, my hash rate on my 1070 is screwed up but I'm afraid to reboot it cause if it's true I want that coin. I just started playing with Awesome Miner the last few days and it's been averaging about $5.50 a day and today it went crazy. https://imgur.com/7HEh9tF

You NEED to use Nvidia P106 mining cards for more than 13 GPU's on the Asus B250 mining expert. Nvidia/AMD, Windows/Linux it doesn't matter, the Asus B250 REQUIRES the Nvidia P106 mining cards NOT 1060 for more than 13 cards. Watch this video BBT goes over his B250 mining expert 19 card setup why you need to use the P106 mining cards with more than 13 cards. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R2OKKmCzzchttps://youtu.be/h-ZEPjoFh2I?t=259Asus was supposedly going to release an update to bypass the requirement to be able to use 19 regular cards, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
