https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/B250-MINING-EXPERT/HelpDesk_BIOS/

Is this the fabled mythical 19 card bios ASUS has been talking about? Or just another bullshit hotfix...

Hi,
I am thinking of buying more of this board for my machine. Are there any issue with this board?

currently using one, bought it thinking i could connect 19 Vega64 on it but allas it can only BARELY support 8 of them
i have 6 on it and its stable but no more

saw the update but havent installed yet, waitting for others to do the testing as i dont want to fix something that is currently running fine

started a thread detailing my experience with pics, including the component that overheats and slows the mobo down (bet you didnt know about that)

for those interested the thread is here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2549085.0

as with anything new there are bugs to be fixed, i just want ASUS to show a little more attention to this mobo, time will tell

to mine or not to mine,
is not a question...

That is an issue with the drivers for the Vega, not the motherboard - EVERYONE has been having issues getting more than about 4 Vega cards working on one rig, and I've NEVER seen a "working on more than 6 reliably" report.

With that said, the weird no-reason-for-it limitation to 13 "non-mining cards" has never been explained by ASUS, and there is NO sensible reason for it.

They've also never specified if anything OTHER THAN the P106 mining cards count as "mining cards" or WHY they have the restriction in the BIOS or what the BIOS is looking for when it imposes that senseless restriction.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

yea this made no sense to me either, seems like the marketing of this mobo is a scam cover, the only good gimic is the port check screen at startup as it helps with gpu installation

i am as mentioned before running 6 vega64s on it very stable at 12.5kHs total ETN on nanopool using reg-ed cast xmr

Nobody's going to return them and there won't be a recall.  Sometimes development takes more time.  And only an idiot would pay $300 when they are $169 at Newegg.  That's where I got mine.

If you follow the manual on what cards are required, the board works perfectly fine. You need mining specific cards.

I am Not returning mine,

I Bought 3 of this Board, all at separate times, and each time I have never paid more than 149 US$ each on Amazon, don't pay the inflated price's you may find elsewhere online, and just watch for when they are in stock, directly shipped and sold by Amazon or NewEgg, and then you will consider this board a great purchase even if it should only be populated up to 13 regular GPU at this point,

$149!  Even better!  Yes, they are still bargains at "only" thirteen cards usable.

No. At least not without adding 8 P106 mining cards. BBT was able to run 21 cards, 13 AMD RX 570 + 8 Nvidia P106 in Windows 10.

I bought 11 ASUS B250 Mining Expert MBs, 10 are being used in 8 GPU Nvidia rigs. Setup was the simplest/fastest I've had with a MB, just changed two settings and update bios if not already 403. They all run like tanks and are ultra stable for weeks at a time. Cost was as low as $134.99 shipped from Amazon for batches of 5. I wouldn't sell one for $300, is the best mining MB currently available.
