Hey guys, about a week ago or so I purchased 1500$ worth of bitcoin and 500$ worth of litecoin. My 2000$ investment is now worth around 3k.. I'm pretty pleased with my results and I want to invest another 500 tonight, but not sure which one to get. I was gonna put it into litecoin to balance my portfolio out, but litecoin price has been pretty stagnant since that big jump from 150 to 300 (which I was lucky to catch the night before the jump) but bitcoin on the other hand seems to be on a steady rise. What do you guys think?

I think in the short-term Bitcoin has more chances to further grow in value compared to Litecoin after its recent dramatic jump. Just like XRP, this is the tendency with Litecoin and even with Ethereum...they sometimes just surge out of nowhere and then they stopped in a certain level you have to wait for the next opportunity that it can surge. Bitcoin is at least different for now as it can surge from time to time. There are however many other coins worth exploring those who are undervalued that can easily double the value when it is their time to shine.

Thanks for the response. The one thing that makes me want to get more litecoin is the possibility that it would jump into the tens of thousands like bitcoin. Can anyone offer a logical explanation as to why that would be likely/unlikely?

The 'safest' plays would be to go in order of popularity according to total market capitalization unless you have inside information (just like the stock market).

So far I know Bitcoin and litecoin would be the best profitable platform in future. so you don't have to buy more coin. I think Bitcoin is becoming the most potential and profitable currency.

I can suggest you to buy Blackcoin which has a market potential. Day by day Blackcoin is getting popular and profitable platform so that Along with Bitcoin and litecoin you can collect Blackcoin for the future purpose. Another investment would be in the Gambit and ethereum.

that is how altcoin rises have always worked.
it is a pump and dump most of the times. they rise up so suddenly and big. for example they go up 100% in 2 days then they stop, stay there and get dumped. if it is a small altcoin they dump will also be fast and big. but if they are bigger altcoins that actually have something going on like litecoin the dump will be small and slow.

true, but right now bitcoin has risen too much. it may not rise at the same speed anymore.

my suggestion is still to invest in bitcoin, but be extra careful about it so that you don't get caught under any drops/corrections/or panic sells which are pretty likely at this point in my opinion.
then use the bitcoin you bought to trade altcoins. different ones, don't just stick to one and stay there for eternity. as i said altcoin pumps are sudden and last a short time. try catching the next one and then next one and so on to make profit consistently while the first altcoin is stagnating.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

XRP/Ripple has been doing pretty well too. A pretty strong spike recently.

This area is up for grabs! PM me if you're interested.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Any suggestions for other coins? I've read that to get other coins (such as ripple if I remeber correctly) you have to transfer btc from coinbase, buy the alt on a separate exchange, and then trade it back to bitcoin and back to usd? I'm pretty confused about that whole process and it seems a little bit "risky" compared to the single-website platform of coinbase for btc and ltc. I've also heard that on those other exchanges you have to wait for a buyer as opposed to coinbase which is instant. Please educate me lol. Anyone have a suggestion for a particular  coin to invest my 500?

There are a couple of altcoins that have some catching up to do. Mainly the older ones that didn't get the massive launch hype as some of the newer ones have.

Why would a product with nothing to show for such as IOTA or Cardano have a marketcap of 15 billion while LISK or WAVES only has a cap of 1-2 billion? The latter have actually delivered.

Bitcoins are created as a reward for a process known as mining. They can be exchanged for other currencies, products, and services. As of February 2015, over 100,000 merchants and vendors accepted bitcoin as payment. Research produced by the University of Cambridge estimates that in 2017, there are 2.9 to 5.8 million unique users using a cryptocurrency wallet, most of them using bitcoin

Personally, I think people are not keeping a close eye on DASH... it has been rocking steadily since the beginning of the year and in terms of ROI it has even outperformed ETH... if we track ETH vs DASH from January this year till present you will see both of them started of sub $20 ...  ETH is now at $700 and Dash is now at $1050 ... everyone knows ETH was rocking this year and alot of people were talking about it...but DASH has been smashing the living daylights out of ETH and has remained fairly under the radar....

I offer you to increase your LTC. Bitcoin's price already made all time high but LTC's price is still acceptable level. It is easy to double price i think.

Don't you want to try other alt-coins, like ethereum or NEM? Ethereum has been in a steady rise lately even when bitcoin was surging up. This means something.

But if you don't want other alts, then Bitcoin is the safer bet even now that it is really high.

Both coins are good & going upward. Return on both coin is good at the moment. But it depends on holding period for long-term bitcoin would be the best choice. I see if you go with bitcoin you will earn good return it seems to me. But do your own research as well.

I strongly advice you to invest in IOTA if you want a long-term investment. It is a coin that is NOT based on blockchain technology, but instead uses tangles, that enable instant transactions as well as free fees. It used to have some problems with the wallet and that's why it was down for a long time, but when everything was fixed IOTA went 6x up. The other reason why it's not highly adopted is probably that it's technology makes it not really easy to be listed on the exchanges (I guess tangles are not very compatible with blockchain) and so despite it being #7 in marketcap, it is listed only on bitfinex and binance among solid exchanges.
The price is a bit down now, so I guess it's a good time to buy some coins.

Go for bitcoin in short term cause bitcoin rise so fast so in a short time maybe you can atleast gain upto 25% profit if you invest 500 dollars it can be reach up to $625 in just an hour. but its my opinion only its you decision if your going to bitcoin or litecoin. i think litecoin is for long term Smiley
