Satechi 10 Port USB Hub - UH3-10P

Greetings,

A co-worker and myself recently picked up two of the Satechi 10 port hubs to test out some of the ASICMiner USB Block Erupters and seem to be having nothing but issues so I was wondering if anyone else out there has used them with success?

Basically the situation goes like so:

With one block erupter it will run for a little over an hour and then I'll get the solid green light and CGMiner spams Comms Error.

With two or more block erupters they run for maybe 30 seconds if that and then I get solid green lights on random units, sometimes they will come back online and then just go back offline, same deal with CGMiner spamming Comms Error.

I then took my D-Link DUB-H7 hub and connected it to the Satechi 10 port with one erupter in the D-Link hub and now it has been running for days without issue.

I have contacted Satechi and they pretty much have said they have never heard of ASICMiner products and assume they will not work on their hub...

Also as a frame of reference, I have tested this on Windows 7, Windows 8 and even my Raspberry Pi running MinePeon, all of them run into the exact same issue.

I had assumed that being a 10 port hub with a 5V 5A power supply it would be perfect for a USB mining rig though it looks like at this point I was wrong.

Anyways, just wanted to let others know as I can't post in the thread about compatible USB hubs so I had to get the word out somewhere!

I bought the Satechi 12-port hub, which will the power adapter that came with it, it should be able to power at least 6 (but we'll say 5)... it barely support 4, with an upgraded 5v 6amp adapter. The erupters just start having COM I/O errors all the place (that's just with 6 on it). My opinion is simply, Satechi isn't a a good brand to go for, I would imagine it having something to do with the way they are setting up the I/O for each port on the board, probably can't handle a full bandwidth of usb devices (since usually USB devices aren't always 'fully on' to the port/hub).

I got a Belkin 7-port hub (5v 3.6-3.8a) up to 5 erupters before failing and a Dynex 7-port hub (5v 3.6a) to 5 as well... oh well, sitting here waiting for my Rosewill RHB-500's to get here.

I've tried getting a Raspberry Pi with Anker, Raspberry with Satechi, Raspberry with DLink, and still, the best results for a multi-asic setup is still my Mac with Ankers...you can daisy chain up to a hundred on each usb connection and mine away.

One irritation with running Satechi on any device (e.g. Pi), is they are very unstable - and flop over at the slightest disturbance - so the only way to I found to work around this is to have two arctic breeze's, and hang them off each side of the device.

With Pi and Satechi, i could get up to 5 Erupters working at low error rates, but soon as I went 6 or higher, my pool stats dropped way off and the error rates started going ballistic.
