On a serious note, make sure you get a fan that has the same RPM rating or you could damage your machine by under-speccing the fan.

Actually the key number is CFM. There can be two fans running the same RPM but one moving significantly less air because of blade pitch.

Yes, I agree.  CFM is key, but you usually see those numbers close to each other as a ratio.    Unless you have a large fan, you will likely see the higher CFM fans are Higher RPMs.    I upgraded my Avalons with some beefy server fans (4400 RPM) and have seen stable and higher hash-rates.

thanks guys, i decided not to "unpack" it and change the fans, i have mounted a 120mm fan in front of the single and another one on top of it, in about 30 seconds , single fans slowed down and the noise aint so buggy as it used to be before

Is this the Bitcoin equivalent of a first-world problem?  Cheesy Sorry, couldn't resist the humor.

If i was lucky enough to have that mining rig, make about 600.00USD a day week, my problem would be a persistent  shit eating grin and a constant hardon, noise would not be a big issue.

End of off topic comment:

That being said, have a look at Coolink fans. I have a Norco SS 500 5 in 3 HD hot swap bay, that came with a really noisy 80mm. Swapped  itout for a Coolink and its whisper quiet now.

Not sure what rig you are referring to.  Bfl Single 60Gh pull about $90 a day before electricity cost at current difficulty.
