Where to see strait forward gains/losses?

none of the wallets/exchanges i'm on will show a easy to read list of your investments gains/losses that you'd typically see in a brokerage account. am i missing something or can one be created?

I don't think you are missing anything I think you highlight what all others here are trying to figure out and that is when it comes time for taxation how will people be reporting this? Will it be based on end of year amounts or for every trade does one have to track what occurred? It is a grey area in my eyes because regulation has just begun and we don't really know what to expect because of this infancy.

yep, it's a PITA to try to remember what i bought at and exactly how much money i'm up or down. makes trading more difficult for sure.

I personally use an app to track my gains and losses. The one I use is Blockfolio, but there are others. Just search for some in your app store.

Try putting it in a spreadsheet. I do that and it's a great way to keep track of all your trades.

With "Spreadsheet", I obviously mean "Google Spreadsheets", which is user-friendly, available worldwide, free and has a ton of functions that make your life a lot easier.
You can just use a different column for each day and make a new tab for each month, which gives you a good overview. I also recommend backing it up somewhere. (I got multiple google accounts: a spambox account, a regular-use account, a back-up, etc.)

So instead of being served, you must serve yourself: Start making spreadsheets.. They're really useful!

I do agree. You cannot rely on anything anymore. Use other resources and make formulas out of there to figure out how it will manageable rather than seeking for an application that will be working for you. It is still best to do it manually. At this point also the good part is tou can also monitor everyrhing and it will be accurate than one app.

I do agree. You cannot rely on anything anymore. Yup and a lovely advantage I like of Spreadsheets is the fact that you can make the design yourselves. Many applications got awful designs or very distracting ones, making it hard to find the information you're looking for.
Making your own spreadsheets allows you to create a design you like and make it so you can easily find the information you're looking for.

Indeed, trusting on outside applications isn't always a very smart choice anyways, as you'll lose all your data if they shut down, get hacked or if a similar event happens.

If you want to invest wisely my advice will create simple Excell spreadsheet with this columns:
A. Current Asset
B. Symbol/Ticket
C. Project Start
D. Current Value
E. ICO Price/Token
F. Value
G. Amount
H. Price Target
I. Market Cap
J. Rank
K. Circulating Supply
L. Total coin supply
You can keep notes on paper notebook (transaction details like date and price)
If you want to check anytime your profit/loss with coins/tokens I highly advice you to install on IOS/Android - Blockfolio. It can keep tracks of all trades, show you % increase in the last 24h and let you set up price alerts, shod/hide balances and display % investment in each coin.

You could use an app like Blockfolio to track your portfolio in real time. I am using it and it covers all existing crypto assets.
