He did sell his litecoin but not because he is abandoning the project. Or because the project won't be developed anymore. Litecoin is still growing because litecoin transaction is faster then any another coins like bitcoin and ethereum so that it is growing

The reason why light coin still grow because light coin has prove to be one of the most stable vertual currency and most of investors and user are believed.
Light coin is provide a faster and more efficient payments system than bitcoin,which has its value considered more as an investment than a currency.
