I must say that is the funnest coming soon web page I've ever visited.

It also sparked my interest as to what exactly the start up's services are, so I will stay tuned.

PS: I'm not just saying that because you're a girl. About half of my previous post in this thread was just me joking around.. I am not looking for an online girlfriend rofl.  Grin

Maybe a poll may help you clarify your answer to this question.

Anyway, I think there are some girls who love this thing (bitcoin)

I already have a funny list in my mind that some girls could buy with Bitcoins.

I picked my username knowing I would be part of a minority on here.  But yes, I am female and way more obsessed with Bitcoin than my husband is. Wink

There are several here on the board.  We are not alone.

I think that perhaps some guys are not too happy to have any women on here but hey, it should be encouraging that there are some female Bitcoin users for sure.  In order for Bitcoin to grow women should probably start using them. Wink

This thread delivers!

Of course, every time this topic comes up, we get a repeat of the same old thread.

For every actual female bitcoin/forum user here, there are like 5 scammers pretending to be female because it makes their scams easier.  This makes it statistically valid to troll anyone that openly claims to be female.  On top of that, there are actual 13 year old boys here, and they are pretty much indistinguishable from the trolls.  And then you have the adults that have no desire to play parent to random children (of all ages) on the internet, or the ones that just don't feel like ordering the tide back into the ocean.

Now, into that mix, toss a couple of people that feel the need to alert everyone to their (real or imagined) outrage over the sexism on the forums while blindly ignoring the rampant sexism directed against people that aren't in the group they care about, not to mention the gross incivility of pretty much everyone here.

And now you have this thread.  It'll die out soon, like it always does, but another near-identical thread will show up in a month or two.

This is a public forum.  On the internet.  No one can survive here if they take any of it too seriously.

I've created paper wallets for each of our kids and just transfer a bit to them each week from mining profits.

That's for damn sure! You may be able to go on the Betty Crocker Cookbook forum and be a petite little virgin flower and come out unscathed but you can't be thin skinned and play here.

I realize much of the thread is joking, but that doesn't justify this outrageous sexism.

Yes, women use Bitcoin. Yes, they are sufficiently tech-savvy to do it. If you look at this thread, you will find that over 7% of users on this forum are female. It is irresponsible to denounce almost 50% of the world population in this way.

If there's a reason that fewer women frequent these forums than men, it is because of the hostile environment. BitcoinTalk is not Saudi Arabia. We are not to stereotype any gender, profession, race, or location. What is Bitcoin about? Decentralization. Money in the hands of the people—all people.

Women are integral parts of the Bitcoin ecosystem. Lindsay Holland is the assistant director of the Bitcoin Foundation. All top Bitcoin companies, including the former BitInstant, BFL, Mt. Gox, BitPay, etc., employ women. A woman owns the eminent Bitcoin stock exchange and options market, MPOE/MPEX. Bitcoin would not nearly be where it is now had not been for the tireless work and support of women. This fact must be respected, not dismissed. The stereotyping in this thread is simply unacceptable.

Thanks for the first reasonable post in a thread consisting of slurs.
