Interesting report, but I don't need US government to tell me that they exist or no. We can't be alone in space. There is theory that we are just computer program by some other specie. Anyway we are not alone. Probably some cells from which we origin also came from somewhere in space because our planet is pretty young when it comes to other parts of what we can see.

I think that they have always existed, only that the governments, and specially those guys from the FBI and the NSA are trying to hide it from us, can you even imagine how much chaos will it make if we discover that they really exist? i can not even imagine it by myself.
Why chaos? I don't think so. Normal people accept alliens. Only religious fanatics will not but they are not so powerful as early and can be a huge problem.

Is the Government finally softening its stance on UFO's matters or just revealing the truth in preparation for something big?
Wonder what Wikipedia ufo writers have to say about this as they are notorious for spreading shocking articles where they outrightly denied the existence of UFOs, ghosts or other paranormal stuff without proofs. It's like telling a hunter that fire flies don't exist.
I stopped trusting the site for important info two years ago though.

Humanity however needs to be careful with these beings (I guess they exist now?). They MAY be totally evil.
A responsible government must seek the opinion of all, like the theologians, religious men, scientists, to avoid making a costly

In $600 billion annual Defense Department budgets, the $22 million spent on the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program was almost impossible to find.
Which was how the Pentagon wanted it.
For years, the program investigated reports of unidentified flying objects, according to Defense Department officials, interviews with program participants and records obtained by The New York Times. It was run by a military intelligence official, Luis Elizondo, on the fifth floor of the Pentagon’s C Ring, deep within the building’s maze.
The Defense Department has never before acknowledged the existence of the program, which it says it shut down in 2012. But its backers say that, while the Pentagon ended funding for the effort at that time, the program remains in existence. For the past five years, they say, officials with the program have continued to investigate episodes brought to them by service members, while also carrying out their other Defense Department duties.
The shadowy program — parts of it remain classified — began in 2007, and initially it was largely funded at the request of Harry Reid, the Nevada Democrat who was the Senate majority leader at the time and who has long had an interest in space phenomena. Most of the money went to an aerospace research company run by a billionaire entrepreneur and longtime friend of Mr. Reid’s, Robert Bigelow, who is currently working with NASA to produce expandable craft for humans to use in space.
On CBS’s “60 Minutes” in May, Mr. Bigelow said he was “absolutely convinced” that aliens exist and that U.F.O.s have visited Earth.
Working with Mr. Bigelow’s Las Vegas-based company, the program produced documents that describe sightings of aircraft that seemed to move at very high velocities with no visible signs of propulsion, or that hovered with no apparent means of lift.
Officials with the program have also studied videos of encounters between unknown objects and American military aircraft — including one released in August of a whitish oval object, about the size of a commercial plane, chased by two Navy F/A-18F fighter jets from the aircraft carrier Nimitz off the coast of San Diego in 2004.
Mr. Reid, who retired from Congress this year, said he was proud of the program. “I’m not embarrassed or ashamed or sorry I got this thing going,” Mr. Reid said in a recent interview in Nevada. “I think it’s one of the good things I did in my congressional service. I’ve done something that no one has done before.”
Two other former senators and top members of a defense spending subcommittee — Ted Stevens, an Alaska Republican, and Daniel K. Inouye, a Hawaii Democrat — also supported the program. Mr. Stevens died in 2010, and Mr. Inouye in 2012.
While not addressing the merits of the program, Sara Seager, an astrophysicist at M.I.T., cautioned that not knowing the origin of an object does not mean that it is from another planet or galaxy. “When people claim to observe truly unusual phenomena, sometimes it’s worth investigating seriously,” she said. But, she added, “what people sometimes don’t get about science is that we often have phenomena that remain unexplained.”
James E. Oberg, a former NASA space shuttle engineer and the author of 10 books on spaceflight who often debunks U.F.O. sightings, was also doubtful. “There are plenty of prosaic events and human perceptual traits that can account for these stories,” Mr. Oberg said. “Lots of people are active in the air and don’t want others to know about it. They are happy to lurk unrecognized in the noise, or even to stir it up as camouflage.”
Still, Mr. Oberg said he welcomed research. “There could well be a pearl there,” he said.
In response to questions from The Times, Pentagon officials this month acknowledged the existence of the program, which began as part of the Defense Intelligence Agency. Officials insisted that the effort had ended after five years, in 2012.

I am also convince that aliens do exist in this universe. I also read several articles about aliens. There are many artifacts and evidences that they exist. Even in ancient times, from their paintings and drawings, aliens were seen.

How many alien and UFO sightings have there been?
The number of UFO sightings is currently flying at an all-time high, according to data cruncher.
The alien expert reckons there have been more than 100,000 recorded UFO sightings in the past 100-plus years.
From an "alien autopsy" video dating back to 1995 to a video of fighter jets apparently chasing a UFO over the M5, there are hundreds of videos which people have claimed to be proof of alien life.
Nasa is the expert in space activity, but it has remained notoriously tight-lipped when it comes to alien life.
However, Nasa was previously forced to deny claims from hacking group Anonymous -that an alien announcement was imminent.
Aliens and UFO has been becoming long way debating in these earth's.

alien spaceships have never entered Japanese airspace, the country’s defense chief told the Diet on thursday, amid questioning about the threat from space aliens.
tefense minister gen nakatani said the nation’s warplanes can be scrambled whenever there is a report of an unidentified flying object. But, he said, jets have so far encountered no UFOs from space

No, I doubt it, I mean, the universe is only infinite you know lol.  Roll Eyes
On a side note, if they did, why would they ever come down here to earth? The religious will force them to convert, or kill them off. The scientist will gut them open, in order to experiment on them, and see what makes them tick. The average person will complain to their congressman about these illegals who keep crossing the border, sneaking into our atmosphere to steal our livelihoods, and parliament will tax the hell out of them every year.

Almost certainly given the vastness of the universe. I don't think we will encounter any until we have much more advanced tech and can begin interstellar travel though.

What a convenient way to make tax-payers dollars disappear! Create a secret government program that you can spend millions dollars on. That's a classic move. It does make you wonder what they're actually spending the time and money on.

I think that considering the seemingly infinite amounts of starts and universes, there's definitely a chance that there are other planets out there with intelligent life. The intriguing thing is that if the aliens come visit us first, they are much more advanced than we are technologically. It doesn't seem like we'll get to be visiting any other aliens anytime soon.

I think there is definitely another life in this vast universe, just the distance between planets is too far to observe. When aliens arrive in the earth, they will most likely be in independent films. Only then will we all die
