That's probably due to the account being taken as collateral. That being said I'm highly leaning towards yeah this is a scam

Because it was a small amount and i felt bad about it being his/her "birthday" and having nothing. Ive been in that spot myself a few times and its not fun. I simply felt bad for him/her/, i was aware of the risks, i just thought it was a reasonably safe bet.

This is why we question the borrower even though the amounts involved may be completely negligible. When he asked for the $11 loan a lot of signs were there to indicate that he was just trying to just take the last bit of money and run.

He even requested on parodium's thread that he wanted $25 instead of the $11 promised.

So yeah... My advice to you is don't loan to people just because a) the amount is low or b) you can afford it. They'll likely backstab you and you're making a precedent for yourself as being a target.

There goes another throwaway account. They keep doing this for paltry amounts. Sometimes I wonder if they have some kind of boiler room or basement where they all work as teams creating a bunch of accounts every morning and using them to scam here, even small amounts to make it easier to convince their victims to send first. Then at the end of the day they consolidate their "earnings" and the boss pays the scammers their cut.

If this scammer works alone, then this is a sad story of desperation and desperate times. All this effort for a couple of bucks.

I already had a feeling about this. There was another borrower who wanted $100 for his account as collateral. When Parodium offered $50 he quickly seized the opportunity which led me to think the account was being sold disguised as collateral.

Accounts should not be valid collateral for this very reason Warningsigns, and people like myself being less gullible wouldnt hurt either.

Really sucks that he hasn't paid up.... I also read that loan request and much like you I also felt for him/her with it being their birthday and stuff.

I guess when it comes to loans like that....better to look at them as a "donation" and write the money off.... if it gets paid back then awesome but rather just assume it's not getting paid back. Good thing it was a small amount, still sucks but at least the "damage" was minimal.

I also agree that accounts shouldn't be used as collateral....just seems to open the door for abuse.

Most people understand that their account is worth more than the amount I'll give them as collateral, this should be a deterrent to defaulting, but sometimes it's not.

This guy spent months, posting nearly every day, lurking the forum, to scam for about $30 total, he must be in a very poor situation in life if that's his only way of making money.

I guess that does make sense when you put it like that... I suppose most people would value their account more than a loan amount if it's a small loan.

If any account has an ongoing loan and they take another, then its a major red flag. They shouldn't be taking out loans if they can't repay current ones. No matter what rank, how old it is, if you take their account as collateral with an ongoing loan, you aren't only hurting yourself but also the other lender. His account is not worth $30, by any standards at this point. Even without the loans, it is very easy for someone to spam bumps everyday.

Accounts may make sense if it is especially valuable but definitely not in this case.

I wasn't aware he had another loan out, it was my own ignorance.

Either way $10 is negligible.
