All cards are tightly packed together with no extensions inside an Antec 1200. A scythe 135cfm fan is blowing directly onto the video cards. I'd also like to mention that it's also quiet, you can place it in another room without hearing it in the next.

I know I can overclock these to get 1GH by shoving fanspeeds up higher, but how much higher can they run before wearing down the fans?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Ok, I overclocked it to 1010Mhz and set all fanspeeds to 65%. Temps are now hovering around 70c. However, after 5 minutes of running, it crashed. I will probably need to up voltage. I estimate that I can achieve aircooled 1GH/s with 80% fanspeed. This Antec 1200 moves tons of air. Kill-a-watt measured 555 watts at 900MH/s.

It looks like I can also fit another HD 5830 in the case to give a solid 1.2GH/s.

Good.

Not great, but good.

Now, if you want to design a greatest masterpeace, try 4 x 6990 with Ultra x4 1600W PSU, OC'd, all aircooled in a 8x extension case with 2 x 200mm fans hacked to work on 24V DC adapter.

That's the one I am working on atm

I hope to post pics when ready

Something I was going to build until I figured out, that the cards would barely
cover electricity costs in the place, where I live...
