Bitcoin Cash is already bit expensive today but indeed it's a good coin despite people tagged it as scam or a joke when it was forked and pumped. Now, we cannot hear any gossip against Bitcoin Cash because it's not actually true.
Bitcoin proves that it has good future and soon will rival Bitcoin and it's now actually the leading Altcoin in the Crypto-Currency market.

I would say the safest coin would be Ripple, as its showing great movement in the market right now, and things look positive for this coin. $100mil hedgefund is also going towards this coin and Ripple will up its game even more now, its bound to hit $1 in the early stages of 2018 and once that happens it should stay there or rise, their is no going down from there.

I think there are a number of coins that are going to have a good year in 2018. However, safest alts at the moment are probably those already mentioned (XRP, Litecoin, Dash, etc) as they have good price, volume, community, exposure and dev teams.

Definitely important to do your own research and find projects that will have lasting value.

Im not sure there is safe coin, but less volatile maybe. All coins can shoot up and they can crash too.
The one i feel more comfortable with is Ethereum and Ripple, they are strong coins and useful to the community.

Ethereum is the most functional coin now a days in trading because many tokens that are created is based on the ethereum blockchain and sending this tokens needs eth as gas to be able to make the transaction that's why I suggest to invest in eth since the token that will come will be using ethereum network.

Two big bumps in BCH after this coin has been introduced to the market. every time bitcoin cash bumpws that time especially we are finding the bitcoin crashed at that time.
Please ignore investing on BCH that will always bad for bitcoin at the all time. That is proven in the last 2 bumps.
After bitcoin I think we will find better growth in the neo, waves and iota.
