Me too  I sent $120 worth of bitcoin a few days ago and it costed me $45 worth of fees, this is disgusting.
I dont have any problem about paying fees, because we know that it is needed, but why should i pay $45 of fees just for a transaction of a little bit more than one hundred dollars?? Why ??

Either when they introduce 2 mb blocks or when other solutions like lightning network come live, though these solutions as I understand is still a long long way off. I think 2 mb blocks is the only option in the short and medium term to fix this as segwit on its own didn't change much.

Sometimes it is really frustrating to pay such a high fee, or else the transaction will be delayed to get confirmed if we opt for low fee. Major upgradation is required to solve this problem and i believe that segwit will help to reduce this problem.

The fees will drop when people will either switch en masse to segwit and thus making more room in blocks for more transactions or when they will simply stop paying more than 100satoshi/kb. But as long as some do, you will have to compete with them, and thus making the current situation....normal.

The fees have no correlation the the price.
We experienced 10$ fee when bitcoin was at 6k and we were able for a brief period to move funds with average 5$ while bitcoin was at 10k.
I am really curios whwt will happen during the 25/26 and 31/1 , probably we will see the lowest fees then, I'm almost willing to bet will see a close to empty mempool.

Bitcoin fees are ridiculous. Holding is nice, but eventually people want to use it.

there is a lot of truth to this. bad fee estimation, and services assuming that next-block confirmation is required causes median fees to drastically increase. users should push back against exchanges and payment processors who use high fees. and users should start manually determining fees based on congestion and priority, rather than letting their crappy wallet screw over the fee market. large services and bad fee estimation by wallets (with help from spam attackers) are constantly front-running the market, pushing median fees higher and higher.

also, bitcoin isn't instant. it never was, and services should stop selling it as such. i wish we as a community could push back against this idea that bitcoin was invented for "instant, cheap payments." that's just some marketing gimmick from VC-funded bitcoin startups. where does it talk about this in the whitepaper?

if it's not instant, it can be cheap. or at least much cheaper than what people are currently paying.

Oh, both BTC and ether are having congestion problems. In the case of bitcoin it can be solved if segwit gets more adoption. The technology exists, is just a question of us users pressing to make things right.

Yes transaction fee is so high in this time. It is not a good news for bitcoin traders. I think it will be resolved within short possible of time. It is on correction and there are a lot of traffic on blockchain. So be patient and wait sometimes.

The fees will not be adjusted until lightning network goes live. The fees are the payment miners receive so we can have coin on the table so to say. As I said before no work is done for free, so the choices are; either stick to large transactions where the fee does not hurt you, or wait until some changes occur.

The main issue actually is that the system is lacking technical support. I mean, there are many transactions being issued at each second, but the system can only take a fixed number per period.

In order to artificially "solve" this problem, websites allow users to chose their transaction fee: the idea is that the most you pay, the quicker the transaction will happen.

So, actually, the only way to solve the issue, is to enhance the technical system to allow for more transactions simultaneously. :-/

I guess we have to wait until the Lightning Network comes live or some other solution gets picked. I thought that by 2018 we would have gotten over the problems but looks like they will stick around longer. At least economic fees are not that slow, the transactions wont get stuck for a week like they did in the past. It isnt a good fix, but it works if you aren't in a hurry for confirmations.

It is a bit of an issue, it makes it difficult for new people to get involved...theyre put off by the fees. I know we've seen lots of new money recently, but it's not good in the long run. bitcoin transaction fees are currently a big problem. it's normal, if you want a quick transaction confirmed then the required fee is greater, transaction fee is directly proportional to the speed of the transaction. Yes, my transaction fee in my wallet is too high also.  It is really a big issue.  This is also the reason why some people said that bitcoin is for rich only due to its too expensive transaction fee.  We can do nothing about it.  It is really far from what Satoshi aims when he introduced bitcoin.  I guess, somebody like him must enter the bitcoin world so this issue will resolve.  His idea must be adopted and implemented.
