in my opinion the coin of the year will be universa (UTN), it's still not avaialble because ico ended few weeks ago, but it has great potencial and a promising team that is working hard to develop a nice product. the core ideas of universa are:
-fast transactions
-low fees
-great scalability:  try to have many transactions for every second, now bitcoin and eth aren't very scalable
i will hold it till at least 1$

We have been over this through time. No coins can really topped bitcoins supremacy. In terms of reputation and price on the market, no altcoins can do it. Just like what happened on the recent fall of the market when everything just dipped like what bitcoins did.

Whoever mines the block which ends up containing your transaction will get its fee.

I cant not to shill NEO for 2018.

I think NEO is one of the Ethereum killers that is still trying to get a Knife and I could say the same for waves I assume. But yeah, why not, good chain and tecnically sound.

What is the main purpose of universa and the team behind? I have heard the name before but I can´t really assess it suitability as a chain per-se, is just too blurry.

I am convinced that Bitcoin will eventually be killed. Dare to name the assasin Smiley
Bitshares still hold to be the best candidate for the blockchain system with solved on its scalability problem. But there are some categories right now. DAG (iota, byteball), Ripple. But the fact that the only blockchain can be implemented the dapps support. I doubt about another system. Ethereum is the best right now.  Grin
I'm sure that Bitcoin will not be killed as long as it has a great number of user.
Eth and ripple or other IOTA coins may accepted by massive folks that can gradually oversee bitcoins, however, in short term aspect such as 5-10years, it is totally impossible for bitcoin to dissappear.

Although bitcoin is now declining, but bitcoin is still hunted by people. And on the other side there is an ethereum that will catch up, seeing investors begin to glance at the ethereum
