Might not be the definition of a fork, but he is manipulating the chain and keeping all other blocks out of it. Basically corrupting the legit chain. What would you call it?

Doesn't really matter either way as the coin is dead no matter what you call the attack.

LOL I have 160 I have been to lazy to move to the exchanges. Anyone want them for 0.1BTC? Thats more than 50% less than what they are selling for at BTC-e right now.

Amazing the havoc a hobby miner with a CM1, 2 Lancelots and a block erupter can wreak!

It IS forked, AND attacker is abusing bug...
(...)

It is not forked, damn noob. If there is a fork and attacker is on some illegal chain than you would not be able to see his transactions on explorer.
Or you are suggesting explorer uses illegal TRC wallet, the same one that attacker is using?

Learn how cryptocoins work, finaly.
Explorer is taking LONGER chain as legit. So because attacker is able to mine at 5k using lots of power and hacked client he have longer chain.
He is also almost solo mining this chain.
So, it is attacked and forked or not in your expert opinion? Because IMO he is killing coin and his fork should be cut out.

It is called soft-forking. Difference versus hard-forking is that there are no 2 different wallet rulesets but 2 different versions of the 1 chain.

LOL so you go off on some dude and call him noob because he said it was forked and now you admit it is "soft-forked".

I would recommend you use your leet-skillz to go to silkroad and buy yourself some shrooms, might make you a nicer person  Wink

This.

There is FORK, and there is HARD FORK.

Hard Fork is when it is incompatible with a previous version and breaks compatibility, or forked where it is compatible.

Soft-fork is nonsense, it should just be forked.

Even if the community and exchanges adopted this checkpoint, wouldn't the attack be able to just restart his attacks at that point until/unless the client/wallet is fixed in regard to the 6+ hour issue?

I see they may be adding a checkpoint, but they  need to add a fix for the timewarp attack issue. I assume they can fix it the same way BTC did.

how's the situation? I moved some coins yesterday and I don't know where they ended up. they didn't hit the exchange account they were supposed to go to. Intially each trasfer had a different block number, today I see them all included in the same block number. what's the story? are they lost? is this going to be patched? updates?
