Proof of work?
The beta launch will be a simple scrypt clone with a few simple mods to make it stand out. I plan to have POW + POS in the official. I havent yet compiled a pow + POS coin, but i have spent some time looking into the code and making basic changes so im getting familiar with the pow + pos, nothing ready to compile along the pow+pos lines though. I know someone who should be able to able to help me through any trouble with that. Just sent them an email to see if they still want to participate. I know i have the skill to release such coins, id just really prefer to have a good dev with me to make sure everything is A-OK. There is a dev budget for the coders of the coin 10% of 10%, so 1% of coins allowed to pay devs for their contributions. Anyone with good skills is invited to help, but im going to wait for reply from the current dev i hope to have helping me. Im pretty sure he is one of the more trustworthy devs. I did a lot of searching for good devs. I could have paid a fraction of a bitcoin and had a cheapie made. Really hoping this dev wants to be in the project. I know he is busy with his own venture right now ( wish him luck, it will be cool im sure ). I still need to go reread the posts about certian coins being attacked with a new type of attack that was stoping wallets from syncing. The cause is to good to make the official coin a cheap clone that can be attacked. I even have a Reiki master sending good energy to the curecoin concept on a daily basis. This coin is to be all about good. Thats why im keeping an open line with stanford. any problems arise, program will be halted for launch. I refuse to leave any chance for stanford to be hurt by this. like i said though, their IT team should be able to handle this no problem. I also requested curecoin to be included in the world wide meditation that happened yesterday. sorry more info there than just an answer to the question

Really excited to see this coin start to play out. One question which is probably a stupid one but would there be anyway to get feedback or data from the other end using the folding information? Not sure what type of data or statistics we would get but just a thought.

Top 1% is a good milestone, but we need to be rank 1200! From the looks of it we'll get there very soon... Also, top 0.1% is a much better ranking I'm sure we'll make it soon enough. Edit: Percentages were off by a factor of 10 :p So we are actually in the top 1% of folding teams atm.

Edit: Percentages were off by a factor of 10 :p So we are actually in the top 1% of folding teams atm. rank now 2029 of 218612 se we are in the 0.928 % area HOLY CRAP!!! Even though I was only part way through my first cup of coffee when I posted that this morning, I thought my math looked off - but I obviously wasn't awake enough to register the fact. I'm still relatively new to this forum, and I'm not sure this is the tread for it, but let me take a minute to say HELL YES, CURECOIN, HELL YES cygnusxi, AND HELL YES TO YOU GUYS THROWING SOME CPU/GPU TIME AT THIS.Even if Curecoin as a crypto doesn't become something that's traded on the exchanges, or exchangeable for goods or services (and don't get me wrong, I totally want to see it to continue to move in that direction), what this project is doing is something bigger. The 61 of us (as the team page reports) are coming together to do something that could truly change the world. I'm sure many of you have had friends or loved ones with alzheimer's or cancer or the like - and know how ravaging these diseases can be. Not just for the person experiencing them, but for those who want to be there to support them through their (at times inevitably losing) battle. If team 224497 - team CureCoin - is able to provide medical science enough information to even inch research a fraction of a percent along, we're doing something more important than the biggest GPU farms or highest hashing ASICs out there - we're doing something that could lead to a better future. And we should all be proud of being involved. Hat's off to getting this project off the ground. So after we've amassed enough computing power to finish all the work F@H has for us and cured every disease, what do you guys say to a SETIcoin?

Update, good news, I had mentioned the dev im working with was busy with his own project, but he did just contact me and is helping me fine tune the final client right now. (Exactly why i wanted to find an experienced dev, the coin model is looking very good)
Many many thanks to all his efforts.
Im still planning on releasing the short term beta of curecoin at this point, before the official is launched. I want to give stanford time to prepare for the big event. Ill give it another week and shoot an email and see what their report is.
I have room for some more team members. If anyone knows a lot of the folding client, I can use your help especially. There will be lots of users needing help to get the fullest from their folding clients. I wont be able to help them all. If i can get a small group of novice or expert folders to join me in helping provide support to new folders, it will make a big impact. So far username dudeami has been very helpful with getting new users up and going at the best speeds possible. Thanks dudeami ! Soon ill have a curecoin forum going again and we can start sharing our folding tips there.
If you have any ideas of how you can contribute, or just idea to spit out, plz post or pm me. The amount of support is growing quickly now, and its helping a lot.
If you have a blog, let everyone know about the current creation progress of curecoin, and point people to the current folding pool so we can build the team and hopefully make a dent in all the wu's at stanford.
Side note : We should be hitting the milestone 1200 way quicker than expected. Everyone on this team, THANKS!!!!!!!!!
Sorry if i missed anything, in a hurry, got a meeting to make....

As far as spreading the world to the outside world / blogging about Curecoin, where should we point folks? Curecoin.info isn't up yet, obviously - is there a thread or a landing page we ought to link to? I'm obviously a little bit excited when it comes to the potential of this project.

I'd link people who are interested in folding/mining the currency to here, until the website is up. I'm sure the topics will be updated at that time. If they are not interested in folding/mining, might be best to wait for the official launch.
