Hello,

I recently made this guide on how to mine Bitcoins using Verement's Cellminer. The guide goes over how to set up the PS3 and install Debian. The guide is written for PS3s running firmware 3.15 and lower although I'm sure it could be adapted for jailbroken PS3s. Here are the files you'll need:

http://www.multiupload.com/64EOVGBF76 - The Guide
http://www.multiupload.com/YK1OH4TM0O - Pre-Compiled Cellminer for Debian Wheezy - 2.6.39‐2
http://www.multiupload.com/62SFTW9FGU - Debian Installer

Follow the directions in the guide and you should be up in no time at all.

Credit should be completely given to Verement - he is the Cellminer king. I just made the guide and changed some of the files.

You will only be getting around 22 megahashes. Not too much but if you have a PS3 that isn't doing anything, it might as well be mining.

The PS3 has very minimal power consumption when it is mining. The cost to mine with a PS3 is negligible. It's not going to make you a ton of money by itself but if you have some other miners and you want a kick, the PS3 might be your game.

Would be interesting. Check Google for Folding@Home and Password Cracking specs.

Minimal power consumption? Are you sure? Did you try an power consumption meter?

The PS3 will consume between 90-120 W under full load. I guess consumption is in the eye of the beholder.

After some reading, if you have an older PS3 then it will consume more power, usually up to 200W. Mine uses anywhere between 90-120 though.

Someone can reupload the following files please ?

Thank you in advance  Smiley

I know its digged from many years ago, but all still stands Smiley

Are you sure? I mean it will decrease PS3 life and will cost more that it will mine so it will be financial loss.
Its nice project but for fun/scientific only, no real world usage.

@delaluna I couldn't find the compiled version of it but if you are running Linux, here is the link to the original source: https://github.com/verement/cellminer The compiling instructions seem pretty straight forward. I'm curious why do want it tho? 22 Mh/s won't even cover its cost. Are you doing this for fun?

Thanks for the source link but I already had it.
I still don't understand how to compile but I will try to study it.
It's for fun that I want to do this.
I will install linux on my ps3 now. It's my first linux project.

Even with folding at home its still useless. A laptop uses less power on full use then a ps3 does and even using hash@home which btw i love thanks for mentioning it. Ots just not powerful enough and a waste of time. It was cool to see a few years ago maybe idk. I think personally its just silly. The person who made it is very intelligent though.
