Coinbase

Ok, I want you to walk back in there and very calmly, very politely tell the risk assessors to fuck off! -Mark Baum

Coinbase

^ The most noob friendly website. However this site only offers 3 altcoins, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash.

I'd advise you to trade your bitcoin on an exchange such as poloniex or Bittrex, which both have a variety of altcoins.

Do note that when using substantial amounts, passport verification is needed, just like coinbase.

Alternatively you can also use cryptopia, if you want to invest in really "unpopular"/new coins. ( Although most of these are either dead, or a pump & dump.)

first thing is which altcoin you want to buy when you decided which altcoin you want to buy then go to https://coinmarketcap.com/ and search for the coin you are looking to buy jump into it and find markets section to see on which exchanges it is available for buy and sell just go there and buy. For the absolute Beggining Coinbase.
They have higher fees...

I would move to kraken or gdax where fees are way lower!

If you are experienced in the navigating in the stock market I would say Coinbase is not for you. It will most likely be your first point of entry to purchasing crypto currencies, but you will soon find out that the fees are way too steep! Paying 3,99% fees and not having the option to control the price you pay will soon get you hangovers. https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/articles/2109597-buy-sell-bank-transfer-fees

I recommend SEPA to kraken.com (if you live in EU). I know kraken.com is a horrible exchange but as a point of entry to get FIAT into the market it is okay. Then transfer ETH/LTC or BTC to Binance or some other reputable exchange Smiley

To those that mention bittrex or binance, how do you do that if you don't have any altcoins then?  Could you send bittrex or binance an ach or bank wire transfer and then they credit you with usdt or not?  Because i read bittrex does not allow fiat withdraws?  thus you cant sell btc for usdt and then withdraw it to the bank?  or is that incorrect?

Wwere to buy there is lots of places. However spending them online is simple... amazon i believe are accepting bitcoin payments. you can however check some site reviews / prices ect.. im not sure if all GEOs accept bitcoin payments, but i do belive US/UK do. Check out some reviews first though before buying into a product. www.topdealsformen.com has a pretty good selection of the best male stuff to buy online.

Is the more reliable and user friendly at this point i guess, but yes, the most expensive too

Coinbase is the recommended site to buy cryptos for beginners, but sites like Kraken, HitBTC offer the same services and depending on your country, they have a lesser transaction cost. If you want to buy in your local currency you can also use Localbitcoins or cex.io
