If everyone here would just take half the time the use yelling Buy!/Sell!, Rally!/Crash! and spend it promoting this new currency that we're trying to introduce/working on security issues/something useful, then the Bitcoin world would be a much nicer place.  Smiley

Why ?
I love this action
Buy !
Sell !
Everyone start chasing their tail and generate more heat.
I find this very entertaining.

Hey, I like chasing my tail!! And now I know what I'm going to have my roommate make for my icon here. Smiley

Haha, you do have a point.  It is very entertaining.  I guess it's something to do while everyone's mining rig is running.

The majority of the forum users in the bitcoin community are relatively new to the concept of price action. The daily reactions on the forum have been relatively standard.

OH MY GOSH, it's going up again!!!  Buy, buy ... I mean sell, sell sell!

It's a market, it either goes up or down.  And the funny thing about it is that no one knows where it will go next!   Shocked  Huh

I'm really glad that price only has two degrees of freedom.

Pricing in different commodities/currencies doesn't count as freedom in degree terms?

Speak for yourself, I'm working on a new BTC variant, personally: SuperStringCoin - every coin has eleven dimensions of freedom. Also they simultaneously exist and do not exist in any given wallet, so your balance is expressed as the % chance you would detect a coin in your wallet, if measured.

Beta currently available, but not in this dimension. Your nether-self can download it in Earth Minus One or you could just have it sideshipped (http://bit.ly/8GZhnc)

Degrees of freedom refer to how many directions a given value can move.  For example price can either go up or down, 2 degrees of freedom.  A car can go forward, backwards, left and right; 4 degrees of freedom (normally).  Degrees of freedom are neither dimensions nor types of values.

EDIT:  My point was if people have this much difficulty predicting something that only has two directions to go, just imagine how convoluted these boards would get if there were more possible directions.

On top of it.  Got friends of mine in on my venture in my signature.  I like Bitcoin and invest in it more than in theory or asking for donations, others should to if they aren't going to put back their coin itself into the community, then contribute a good or service.

Playing the market is fun, but that is because I enjoy gambling, I fear why other people jump into it, and I get sad when they leave thinking it has anything to do with the Bitcoin itself if they get fucked in a market.

Uuh not at all. A degree of freedom is an indipendent movement, both of traslation and/or rotation. A price can't go up and down at the same time, hence they are a different way to intend the same DoF.

My mistake, you are correct.  I should have said 1 degree of freedom.
