No, I don't think that this is really possible to reach $100k by 2018, this is too soon. I think the price won't be $100k till the next bitcoin block reward halving.
The road to reach $15k in 1 year is quiet easy as compared to climbing the mountain to reach $100k in 2018 with the governments like Indian and Chinese against bitcoin and mining.

The time line to reach $100k looks short, but we cannot deny that such a growth won't happen. When years pass based on the increasing adoption surely the price will peak much higher than that of the present value. In such a regard I believe bitcoin price will grow similar to the present year in 2018.

This is not happening. Bitcoin is entering a multi year bear market again.

Just compare this current crash to the crash of 2012/2013; they are like carbon copies of each other.

The previous bubble was predicated on several factors: Winklevoss ETF, technicals, and adoption, etc.

When the actual events came to fruition, BTC was in a bear market.

The Japanese exchanges are the new Chinese exchanges, which reached ATH before BFX, Stamp, etc, just like the Chinese exchanges did back in 2012/13.

A simple nonchalant bad news became the tipping point to the crash just like 2012 when a stupid "Chinese bans bank related btc transactions" news was the tipping point for the multi year bear market.

BTC is entering the same bear market again. No sane investor is going to adopt BTC for a long time to come, if ever.

There is no reason for a new bear market in 2018. Bitcoin at 10k is cheap, this thing has the potential to change the world.

Practically, yeah! But anything is possible. Bitcoin is not what it used to be and sure, even though we experienced some crazy bears in the market lately, we should also know that bulls had their own time. Nothing lasts and just keeps on like that, but for now, I am not sure, we will see all those crazy bearish scenarios of 2012/2013 to happen again but I guess we will just have to keep our fingers crossed.

It is just a speculation, but anything can absolutely happen but not from the present angle anyway. However, looking at the angle back in late 2016, one would not expect what we ended up seeing at the end of this year. I am sure so many things would occur in 2018 that would really make some difference, and I would rather just live with the moment and see how things play out than get too optimistic.

I agree this is extremely possible, right now it is better to just keep on holding bitcoins and dump the alts already. It's not worth buying altcoins right now because this is the time that we should be dumping alts and buying bitcoins as it is quite low right now. $ 100,000 by 2018, I think this will not happen. The price of new bitcoin has increased sharply in recent years. This is a leap for bitcoin. So, in my opinion, bitcoin needs more time to reach $ 100,000

Agreed 20,000$ is a big milestone for Bitcoin now, I don't think that expecting it to climb up to 100,000$ in a span of 1 year is a realistic or even a good approach. Supposed that Bitcoin is showing signs that it will go up to 100,000$ this year the governments of the world will be alarmed at that kind of rate and there is a good chance they will take action for it, an action that we may not like. With that kind of price shift and how many people are now involve to Bitcoin we might see a major change in economy if that happen.

What ‘action’ can governments take?.  The cat is already out of the bag.  The only reason we are seeing so many comments which are opposed to the $100,000 EOY scenario is because humans tend to struggle with the concept of exponential growth because we are hard coded to think in linear terms.

One year is a VERY long time in Crypto and 2018 is likely to be the longest year we’ve had yet.   Bitcoin became mainstream in 2017.  2018 will be the year that mass adoption takes place and there is no reason to believe that a $500,000 btc is not possible.

$100,000 for just a year is quite skeptic to believe though I know bitcoin will be there somehow but for next year we have to think of realistic price.

But if that will ever happen then it's a great feeling to see bitcoin hitting $100,000. As of now, I'm good for seeing bitcoin being stable at $20,000 at the end of the year.

And if bitcoin will be more than that on 2018, it's good.

Lol, looking at that though, one would say it has been something that has not really helped the growth of bitcoin for a while now and the only reason why bitcoin has really been growing is just because it has been seen by some as an asset that keeps increasing without looking at the fact that supply can be more than demand anytime just like what we saw.

Although, we cannot expect transactions to go on like this and I am sure scaling issue will be solved, which would really make things a lot better than what we have now.

We saw a massive increase in bitcoin price in 2017 and it is a question mark whether the same continues in 2018. The price has surged beyond our expectations in last 12 months but now it is struggling around $16k, I think it is impossible to reach $100k by 2018 but we can expect the price to continue and may reach around $40k.

However, if drastically Bitcoin price changes like 5 times more than now in a year would not be stabilized. Slow and steady wins the race. Bitcoin is moving on its way towards substantial growth.

BTC if had to reach at those levels means it has to rise by 6 times form present level in 2018 so that it can reach that 100k level. This is totally impossible and will burst out if it tries to even reach anywhere near it. Its always good to have a reliable and growing steadily so that it does not crash huge and make a long term negative impact.
