Can Electrum put an estimate about how much the transfer fee will cost? I had to Google it because there is nothing on the desktop program that lists a fee will be charged. Looking online, it seemed to be about $0.15. When I made my transfer, I looked at my deposit and it was missing a lot of money. Where did it go? I went to the BTC website to look at my history and it said "Fees 0.00131599 BTC, Fees Rate (BTC / kVB) 0.00584884 BTC" WTF!!!!!!!! $18 for a transfer fee!!! Unbelievable. Is there a way to get that back? Or at least have an estimate about what it will cost in the future.

When you google, did you use a fee estimator site? bitcoinfees.earn.com current lists the recommended fee for the minimum transaction size as 0.002BTC which is about 28USD. The amount you paid isn't really comparable.

At the send page, there should be a slider to adjust the amount of fee you pay, in terms of fee/byte. Sliding to the right increases the fee and to left decreases the fee. Before you send, click preview to see the fee and all the transaction info. Click sign and broadcast to send.

No, there's no way to get it back. Its the norm that most pay, you can't do anything about it and its not Electrum's fault.

Thanks for the reply! I did slide the slider all the way to the left. Unfortunately, I didn't see that website. If I had known, I wouldn't have made the transfer. Also, I didn't click the Preview button because I thought the transfer fee was under $1. Lesson learned. I thought if Electrum could add in a total cost (like when you pay something with a credit card, it lists the fees, like Coinbase does), it could help people understand the final amount. That fee caught me by surprise. I spent about 15 minutes looking at Electrum and Binance and converting mBTC to BTC and then to USD, wondering why my money didn't match up.

Go to tools > preferences > fees tab and check edit fees manually. Now you'll see the absolute amount next to the slider.
