Hello everyone!

I got an old PC (Intel Q9550, 4GB DDR2, Radeon 5770 1GB GDDR5, Windows 10).

Can I mine with it?
Hi,

Yes, XMR-STAK should be work for you. You can find link and pools here: http://www.crepcoin.org/pools.php

Regards
Thanks for the response.

I'm a bit confused with the multiple pools and stratum/ports. Which one should I choose?
at this moment two better options are:

- http://crep.cnotepool.info: high hashrate and 3% fee (I set up high fees in order to redirect some traffic to other pools). You will get more payments, but they will be small, according to your hashrate.
- http://crep.miner.rocks: low hashrate and 0% fee. You can get less payments (around 2 hours for mining a block) but your reward will be greater.

Also, keep in mind your balance will not increased until blocks will be confirmed (1 hour approx.).

Thanks again.

Where do I register for the 2nd pool?

Also, my GPU says it cannot allocate enough memory (1GB GDDR5 VRAM is not enough for Cryptonight/Crepcoin?) on xmr-stak.

Sorry for the noob questions, just trying to figure things out! Smiley

Not. It's because we uploaded source to github: https://github.com/crepcoin/crepcoin

Patience is a good friend.

You need to create a wallet first.

For that, you can download the software, sync daemon and create a wallet with simple wallet. Or you can create one wallet online (don't forgot your address and password, and download wallet to your computer on first session for more security): https://wallet.crepcoin.org

Once you have an address, you can download xmr-stak-cpu precompiled from here: https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/releases

When you downloaded and unziped it, you need to edit config.txt file, and change pool address and wallet address, just like this:

"pool_address" : "crep.miner.rocks:3333",
"wallet_address" : "YOUR WALLET ADDRESS HERE",
"pool_password" : "",

Then, start xmr-stak.exe

I have already created a local wallet. I guess there's no need for registration in the pool?

Apparently xmr-stak doesn't seem to work with my GPU (CPU is OK, but not sure about its hashrate). Only Claymore v9.7 seems to be compatible with Radeon HD 5770 (pre-GCN, VLIW5 uarch), but it's not recommended (?) in the pool.

Claymore has issues, that is why it is not recommended, but it is not prohibited, so you can use it.

No, registration is no needed. You only need wallet address to start mining, and pool send payments directly to your address.

Unfortunately I get the following error with Claymore v9.7:
Code:
Stratum - reading socket failed 0, disconnect
 Job timeout, disconnect, retry in 20 sec...
server: bind failed with error: 10048 (port is busy, use different -mport value), next attempt in 10sec...
Any idea how to fix it?

Hi,

For cpu mining I'm using: https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak-cpu/releases

config.txt:
Quote
"cpu_threads_conf" :
[
     { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 0 },
     { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 1 },
],
"use_slow_memory" : "warn",
"nicehash_nonce" : false,
"aes_override" : null,
"use_tls" : false,
"tls_secure_algo" : true,
"tls_fingerprint" : "",
"pool_address" : "crep.cnotepool.info:3333",
"wallet_address" : "youraddresshere",
"pool_password" : "",
"call_timeout" : 10,
"retry_time" : 10,
"giveup_limit" : 0,
"verbose_level" : 3,
"h_print_time" : 60,
"daemon_mode" : false,
"output_file" : "",
"httpd_port" : 0,
"prefer_ipv4" : true,

You can set up number of cores here:

Code:
"cpu_threads_conf" :
[
     { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 0 }, # core 1
     { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 1 }, # core 2
     { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 2 }, # core 3
     { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 3 }, # core 4
      # ...etc
],

You can run one core for each 2Mb cache from your cpu.
