Vertcoin has had one of the most monumental rallies of late. VTC is trying to carve out some market share from the OG payment cryptocurrencies such as Litecoin.
It is based on the rather simple P2P protocol and is thought of more as a digital cash. The protocol was also developed such that it was resistant to ASIC mining (similar to Litecoin). This could mean more decentralised mining in the long run for the coin.
