Hello. Has anyone any experience of this wallet? Looking to hold bitcoin in it. Up to now I have held in exchanges but want to hold in my own wallet.
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Exodus desktop is one of a kind wallet I liked, the theme and the whole design of the wallet is too nice. But you can trust them also, on exodus you can fully control the wallet and your funds since you can access the private keys of the wallet. But the only thing I want them to implement is the dynamic fees or the feature where its user can manually put the fees. Because the current version doesn't have this feature, the software itself put the fees when you want to make a transaction base on the recommended fee. But overall the wallet is good IMO

Why exodus wallet? Electrum wallet is far better than exodus in my opinion. As mentioned above, exodus wallet doesn't have an important feature; set custom fees is a necessary feature to add to a wallet. Even exodus does not support segwit address which is unfortunate. https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7lcm1t/exodus_response_as_to_why_they_havent_adopted/
You can integrate electrum desktop wallet to your smartphone, easily to transact bitcoin and track your transactions everywhere.

You can store bitcoins in exodus. Its integrated with shapeshift altcoin exchange api. Its a reliable wallet. So don't worry . I am also using it. Till now no problems with it. But the only problem is their  fees is really high when compared to the other wallets. So I don't use it much as I prefer electrum wallet because it has got a lot more features than it.

If you want to at least get around with the high fees in Exodus, I suggest you go directly to shapeshift and do your own exchange. It's really a good wallet and one of its advantage is that it can hold multiple coins at the same time. Electrum only hold bitcoins.

Hello. Has anyone any experience of this wallet? Looking to hold bitcoin in it. Up to now I have held in exchanges but want to hold in my own wallet.

Personally, I'm been using Exodus for quite some time time and I must say that its one of the best wallet for multi coins holdings. But if you are just going to used it just for bitcoins, then I suggest that you go and used Electrum instead, for me its the best wallet besides the Core. Electrum will let you hold your own private keys, meaning you have total control of it, plus you can adjust the fees dynamically depending on your needs.

Shapeshift is charging enormous fees if you're exchanging small amounts, exchanging 10€ of a coin to another would give you a worth from 8€ to even 5€! It depends a lot on how much you exchange and what you exchange.
I don't know if there are hidden fees in the exchanging but what I want to know is if they put fees for sending Ethereum or other coins.

Hello. Has anyone any experience of this wallet? Looking to hold bitcoin in it. Up to now I have held in exchanges but want to hold in my own wallet.

It is a good wallet with a great UI. No doubt about it. But if you are going to store a large amount of BTC for long term then I wouldn't suggest it. Since Exodus is closed source there is no way to ensure if some malicious software is injected in the code. The chances might be slim. But why take the risk? Secondly, exposing your private keys in an everyday desktop environment is not a good idea.

If you want to be safe then I would go for a hardware wallet or paper wallet. Move majority of your coins in there and leave a few coins for spending on exodus or any other mobile wallet.

Yes, I'm using it to hold a bunch of altcoins.

It's much better than Jaxx because they have a team that actually care and their support is actually knowledgeable and will try to answer your queries to the best ability they possibly can. This is what I have discovered first hand when I had a question about their service.

Will I recommend them for storage of bitcoins? Absolutely. And it's much more secure than an exchange, since there is no chance of them running a fractional reserve and hacks will not be centralised.

But if you are storing large amounts, make sure you get a cold wallet instead of using exodus or even other desktop clients, since those are only as secure as your computer.

First rule of thumb, never keep your money on exchanges. Take a look at what happened to bitfinex, coincheck, cryptsy, yobit, and now even poloniex and bittrex users. They all got their funds stuck in exchanges, or the exchange got hacked.

Exodus has a beautiful GUI that is intuitive and easy to understand. Even a complete newbie can use it with ease.

It may not be the most secure, since I think it isn't open source. So for larger amounts you still need to download the actual official clients. But for smaller amounts, under 10 BTC, lots of people do that already and I haven't heard anyone gotten ripped off.

I do not advise you to use it for a bitcoin or for long-term savings. There are a lot of wallets better than them but this does not mean it's a bad wallet "not suitable for your use"

exodus wallet doesn't have an important feature; set custom fees is a necessary feature to add to a wallet.
you can export your private key and use any other wallet support custom fees.
Even exodus does not support segwit address which is unfortunate.
I agree with you but most of the use of this wallet is Ether and exchange it to the rest of the altcoins.
On the other hand this wallet supports a wide range of altcoins with the possibility of conversion between them easily.

use Electrum for bitcoin and Exodus  for altcoins

I have used Exodus and still have some ETH and ETC there but few weeks ago when I was trying to send some coin out of the wallet it got stucked and than after few searches on google I found that we have to click on refresh button around the top when wallet will get stucked. But when I clicked, it sent coin to the address where I was trying to send few minutes back without any further confirmation.

So make sure that you have clicked that refresh button before you try to send coins out.

Exodus is a good wallet. The part I like most is that it has very low fees when converting from Bitcoin to Ethereum or any other altcoin. The other way around is the part I don't like, 50 dollars in fees to exchange Ethereum to bitcoin. It can also hold many altcoins and the team behind this wallet has a clear road map in mind. They will add more altcoins in the future and probably this will be the best altcoin wallet after some time. It is a good wallet for keeping Bitcoin too. I think it is a must have in any crypto fan PC.

Shouldn't this thread be in alternative clients as Exodus is a desktop wallet?
