Good day, there are many different projects, it all depends on whether you want to now make a profit - small or capable of defeating the weak (at the moment coins) to get a big profit when they grow.
For example, you can mine on Kalkulus coin -  which should show good growth in 2018.

Lots of coins can be easily mined with a CPU but whether or not they will be worth anything in the future - who knows. Anyone who could predict the future is unlikely to be trolling forums to offer you their valuable incite here. The rest of us just research the coins ourselves and decide based on consensus, belief in a project/community/dev/team etc that a coin might be worth getting in on.

First, do some research on CPU mining to get an understanding of what you are up against. Any coins that can be mined with a CPU can also be mined with much much much better and more efficient means (ASICS or GPU rigs) and therefore the type of mining return a CPU gets is tiny in comparison.

Still, because everyone has to start somewhere, CPU mining can still be done easily without requiring too much user input via Minergate or from Electroneum. With Minergate you can pick from a range of Cryptonight algo coins like XMR, ZEC or BCN, and obviously the Electroneum download, only offers ETN to be mined.

Disclaimer: Many people dislike both these options - but if this is your first time mining, these are hassle free options that allow you to be mining on nearly any platform (not ipad or iphone). Once you get more mining knowledge you will be better able to seek out better platforms, but these are both newbie friendly options.

What is cost of it and marketplace supply level bro. You will not find the decent profit for mining these kind of cheap coins. I see some people mining siacoin and bytecoin but they are waiting still to make the profit more with these cheap coin.
I advice you start mining a ethereum, monero or zec. These best coin in mining with the GPU cards.

I don't think there can be something to obtain a profit in 2018. Easier to win the lottery. Too many of these coins and they all want to fly. We need to be realists and have no illusions. Easier to take and buy coins from the top 10, guess what will take off or not.

Based on my experience those coins that can just be mined through CPU power wont really be that profitable or worth on most cases since ive been trying out this back in the past out of curiosity but I do early find out that its not really worth it unless if you do really put some investment on buying graphics card which you can able to mine even more better on most altcoins in the market.

If you have nice CPU then Monero (XMR) which is of $332.75 USD, is a good option.

other option is Fantomcoin (FCN) which is of $0.341906 USD.

Both can be mined easily. Best platform for these coins is MINERGATE but it's really time taking process.
