So, I just got two 5850 cards, and want to try them out, to make sure they work okay.

How would I go about making them both work without using crossfire? My current setup is two monitors, one is dvi and the other is hdmi. Do I just connect one monitor to each  card? Will it work with a dvi/hdmi setup, or will I need to get a dvi to hdmi adapter?

I'm lost on this.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Hi,
If you have 2 monitor, you can run both. For exemple with GUIMiner you can choose which card to run.

If you want to use only one screen, you will need a shunt VGA, I can give you a tuto if you need.
