It did not happen. And especially in the case of Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Cash, however cheap it may be considered to some, will not give you a larger revenue as compared to Bitcoin. Look back in the near past and you will realize that the value of Bitcoin when Bitcoin Cash was born was $4,000 to $5,000. That was already high but it even surged up to almost $20,000 in a few months. And Bitcoin Cash? Well, let's wait until it achieves what Bitcoin has already achieved.

From my own point of view, it is always better to start with BTC than to start with BCH. You can learn many things from it if you know where to look and I treat BCH as an altcoin of BTC. Don't get me wrong, both of them will provide you good profit if you enter in their lowest prices but I really think that you should go with the basic first and that is Bitcoin.  BCH is also very prone to extreme pump and dump that might procure huge loses on your side.

I did my share of research.
1.BCH is trying to decrease transaction time by increasing block size. This is a main feature.
2.There are some secondary improvements but its basically same old BTC.
3.Its pragmatic decision from business point of view, transaction time is very long on BTC, it had to be dealt with. BCH doing something to resolve problem while BTC is stuck with old implementation because it has huge hashrate and its hard to persuade all the miners to change something.
4.The main problem they should be solving is block propagation, block time is depending on ability of network to deliver block to all nodes. This will decrease transaction time without affecting verification algorithm. LTC for example is faster because it uses different network to deliver blocks.
5.There is actually no explanation why block time for BCH is 2 min now. It just works empirically. I think BTC can also implement "advanced dynamic  difficulty algorithm" and speed up network , and it will hold , but network will be less secured and 51% attack will be easier.
6.The only protection we have is hashrate, at this amounts its hard to imagine who can hijack network it will cost billions of dollars.
7.So BCH is more pragmatic and more risky, BTC is more conservative and secure.
8. In short term BCH have a good chance to grab market share, and they are flexible with business demands, in a long run they are the same. I would say LTC or Doge have more to offer in terms of innovation.

I would still choose to invest in Bitcoin over Bitcoin cash even the it has expensive transaction fee. But when it comes on investing in cryptocurrencies it is always best to diversify, so why not invest in both? It is always the right time to invest in cryptocurrencies if you are going for long term investment, but better to wait for a dip if you want to do short term investment. But since you still don't have any experience investing in crypto, I suggest that focus first in one coin to invest and study how the flow of the market and the best way to start is Bitcoin.

I would advice to purchase equal amounts of BTC and BCH. If you are purchasing 10 BTC, then buy 10 BCH as well. In case the scaling issues resurface again and the number of unconfirmed transactions top the 300K mark, then your BCH holdings will act as a buffer. But I really hope that the lightning network will be implemented without further delay, and scaling issues will be resolved quickly.

I got into crypto last summer when I put some money BTC and ETH. Currently I have 50% invested in BTC and the rest in LTC, XMR, XML. BTC is the only one that I personally truly believe in at the moment, however, as a student I would really love to gain some profit the next months with the alts. I just always feel that I'm "too late" for buying any of them like IOTA, WAVES, STRAT, OMG... Currently some other students that I know are hyping QSP, ONION, NET(NIM) and Wanchain. Do you have any advice/opinions on these alts? I've been reading lots of threads here and on reddit and trying to find out what the "more experienced" crypto enthusiast are doing but it's still quite hard to learn to spot the right coins on time. if your whole reason for saying bitcoin cash is better investment is because it has cheaper price then with that logic at least 1000 altcoins become better choices because they are much cheaper. we even have altcoins that are worth less than 100 satoshi which can get pumped a lot more.

Anytime can be the best time to invest with cryptocurrency but if you are not that big risk-taker then am suggest that you wait for a big dip. When Bitcoin reached $13,000 that could be a good time to buy some. Now, it is already in $15,000 but there is still a big possibility it can go down as we are nearing the end of the year. Though this is just my guess and am not a good fortune teller.

As to BitCoinCash, it is also good to invest some money in there. I am sure that it will also be growing continually as it is now marketed as the best alternative to Bitcoin with its ongoing scalability problem. If I were new like you I would invest in Bitcoin. Before you do that, I would advise you to learn about benefits of Bitcoin and why is it better than having a bank account. Bitcoin is not perfect and after nine years still have some problems such as scalability and transactions long confirmation time (due to its design). Bitcoin Cash claims that it saved this problem by increasing the blocksize. I personally think that it will lead to centralization. Well, Bitcoin is the king and Bitcoin Cash is an alt coin (don't forget this). Bitcoin Cash is theoretically better than Bitcoin, but when you buy Bitcoin Cash (as it's happening with a lot of coins, pretty much all of them), you use Bitcoin.

They both are good for investment, only thing is one is more expensive to invest in than the other. Bitcoin has a great prospect so does bitcoin cash but BTC price is very high now for investment so except you have enough cash I suggest you go into bitcoin cash which is cheaper to invest in.

The two are very good Cryptos with a worthy potential, Bitcoin having more potentials. I think BCH is better than BTC in terms of investment as BCH is in growing at much faster rate than BTC. For me, the former is the best digital currency to invest. But bitcoin has extremely volatile that it can rise so high and it can also fall so deep. Despite all that, you can still earn profit be it short or longterm because bitcoin is dominant in price hike than having its market price decreased.

Bitcoin has a high price and a good investment because it has more promotions, advertisements and more popular or well known than bitcoin cash but its hard to invest because of its higher price than bitcoin cash while bitcoin cash has a lower price and you might have a higher chance of getting profit to it because its just getting started, but no matter what you choose to invest in bitcoin and bitcoin cash can give you revenue.
