* There is enough demands for contents on YouTube. Content creators try to meet the demands. Youtube hides the contents from consumers or demonetise them. These all started after a powerful group of advisertizers(companies) decided to "boycott" youtube for refusing to censor some kind of contents.

Can Crypto/Blockchain fix the mess?
I think it could...
* What a Blockchain project needs to thrive are,  great developers, lots of users , Miners, Nodes, and investors/hodlers of its Cryptocurrency.
I think this can be achieved with passion, dedication and hard work.

There is one problem though: Can Blockchain work for video storage considering the massive amount of videos that will be generated and stored on various nodes. Assuming 1 terabyte of videos are generated each month, 12 terabyte each year, how do you store them?  On Blockchain or on a Centralized storage?  If Centralized, then the project does not qualify to be regarded as a Blockchain project.

Wonder if developers have been able to solve this problem. I mean the problem of having lots of videos fully decentralized?

Youtube Red is what you're looking for.

Google made a subscription version of Youtube so content makers don't be dependent on advertising and sponsorship, this way you can make whatever you want.

Also they want to compete with Netflix. Cheesy

300 hours worth of videos are being uploaded to Youtube every minute! So your 1TB  storage per month is waaaaay undersestimated. It's definitelly in the petabyte range daily.

@pedrog: Youtube red is only available in the US and it ignores the issues.

A blockchain based Youtube alternative would be very problematic to do; storage/bandwidth issues, what about governance and censorship going against decentralization (as you surely want to be able to remove let's say child pornography so where do you draw the line?); what about people copy pasting content (decentralized content ID system?); what about the legality of copyrighted content (like movies), what about spam attacks, monetization, and so on and on.

Not your keys, not your coins!

It's been suggested, like here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2158676.0

But even using blockchain, you'd still have to deal with ownership and usage issues just like YouTube.

Of course blockchain is the future of cloud hosting and streaming. Depending on specific localized server is the reason for downtime. If the internet is decentralized on multiple copies, there would be no congestion or downtime on any part of the world.

There is already the DTUBE platform, which is closely connected with Steemit. A lot of content providers who are unhappy with youtube went there.

The problem of storage of video can be solved also as well as in the Storj project (A Peer-to-Peer Cloud Storage Network). Video at the same time can be broadcast by means of torrents. Each user himself decides how many he can allocate spaces on the hard drive for storage of video and Bandwidth channel for a streaming video
