Hi guys,

This news just came out of the blue... The site even mentions distributing part of Nakamoto's original BTC as a reward to support the split! If it weren't official news I'd say it's a scam or a joke... Even wierder, even though this has the potential of skyrocketting the BTC price in the next 24 hours, like noone is talking about it...
What do you guys think of it?

I guess that's because it won't be the first time, and it may fail. Nethertheless Bitfinex has prepared us for this date.

Yes all good news but the miners of BTC are going ape because they know the jig is up
for silly priced transactions fees.

I will mine Segwit once i learn how to do it for free because I don't like the
blackmail we have been getting from the miners and will send them a two
finger message

Mining is CPU-wars and Intel, AMD like it nearly as much as big oil likes miners wasting electricity. Is this what mankind has come too.

A few considerations about the B2X or (wrongly called) SegWit2x hardfork.
Website: http://b2x-segwit.io
ANN thread at BTCT: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2595620

✱It has nothing to do with SegWit2x (a previous proposal)
Yes, it has the same name but no, they have nothing to do with each other.
It doesn't have the same developers or have the support of anyone (exchanges do not count).
It is not even an "update" of Bitcoin.
This is NOT a fork: https://goo.gl/8DcGsE
Why have they chosen the name SegWit2X? Because it's free publicity and adds legitimacy, which for a scam come great.

✱It will have a premine of 2,000,000 coins (9.5%)
They forgot to add it to the website... sure 🙄
https://github.com/SegwitB2X/bitcoin2x/commit/08220e2a3c8ba8f53801302a8b7b6d6da5a39645

✱They don't have a damn whitepaper (Plans are for noobs).
Is it really difficult to create a PDF with the usual tech specs and the ideas they have or the research they have done about it?
(sigh)

✱Their media
The vast majority are press releases (paid or not) but they follow, in my opinion, a very clear editorial line: confusing readers by making them believe that the coin represents the old SegWit2x proposal. (I repeat: they are NOT the same)
For what? Seeking legitimacy.

✱Their "team"
NONE of the former developers of the SegWit2x proposal is involved in this project.
To date, you cannot verify what real skills they have.
They are (https://goo.gl/wkqZDd):
1. Jaap Terlouw - Founder - Refusing to acknowledge that he is the founder.
2. Sairam Jetty - Team Lead Developer - Completely denied any involvement with the project. Left.
3. Donna Khyuz - Business Developer - LinkedIn profile taken down. Unreachable. Supposedly denied her involvement.
4. Robert Szabo - Core Developer - Unreachable.

✱Personal opinion
This is fishy as f*ck. The fact that they have used the name of SegWit2x is already something shameful. Using the name of another project, which won't do more than confuse new users, is NOT justified.

This is crypto, everything is open source and community, but such actions will NEVER be well seen and is an insult to the developers of the first project, the SegWit2x proposal https://segwit2x.github.io

Honestly, there are better coins and projects to pay attention to than these garbage projects.

Can we talk about these crypto developers please because they are straight out from academia and have made a right
fucking mess so please step in to the ring if your a programmer and lets go toe to toe.

I will start with the 200gb data structure (Linked list of blocks) that does not scale or it would do a lot more than
7 transactions a second before moving on to this CPU war that has been created to waste energy and make big
oil more money and to sell hardware because PoW= rev car engine, keep car out of gear

Mining is CPU-wars and Intel, AMD like it nearly as much as big oil likes miners wasting electricity. Is this what mankind has come too.

Segwit2x Is Back-Bitcoin fork scheduled for 28th December 2017

Segwit 2x hard fork was Originally scheduled for November, the development team cancelled the fork amidst controversy and strong division in the community. In an official statement, the team recognized that they had “not built sufficient consensus for a clean blocksize upgrade at this time,” foregoing the fork in an effort to “[keep] the community together.”

The community has resulted in transaction fees going from $0.05 at the start of the year to $30-50 today
and the consensus is that we don't need to stand for it and these fees started to rise and rise fast as soon
as the Segwit team threw in the towel.

Bankers have taken over here and Lightning with it's term they call "Hubs" is just another name for a "Bank"
See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYHFrf5ci_g

Playing with the block-size or timing is just window dressing and what they need to add to the code is this line

Public static Money MaxFees=$1.50 in the Segwit2x fork

Mining is CPU-wars and Intel, AMD like it nearly as much as big oil likes miners wasting electricity. Is this what mankind has come too.

It looks fishy indeed but what about the talk of distributing Satoshi Nakamoto's bitcoins as incentive? I mean, if the man himself is supporting the split then this is the way to go, no?

So finally, some more free coins eh!?
Can't believe my eyes when I watched this news that shocked me the next minute I came to know that s2x is happening. Not just that, worst are the futures that spiked to almost 300%. What are they doing with the Bitcoin's economy? Just trying to create more and more coins on the name of Bitcoins - THEY ARE LITERALLY USING BITCOINS AS A COVER TO USE IT TO THEIR ADVANTAGE". I don't know which exchanges are going to support it, but now I don't get worried about these "alts" that claim to fork out of Bitcoins, they will always be worth free coins to me and who likes to say no to free money? Tongue They can't beat the magnificence of Bitcoins as they are all a crowd of stars while Bitcoin will always remain "the SUN".

This will be a good development. Lets see how how it plays out.

This is a bad development.  Did you read what they are doing?  If you do not have active bitcoins (active according to their rules which means sent from one address back to the same address between early Nov and early Dec OR between early Dec and early Jan) AND you submit your transaction ID to their web site (effectively identifying you by IP and potentially tying your coins together) YOUR scam-coins will be deemed "inactive" and "redistributed" (stolen).

Anyone who falls for this nonsense or supports this fork shows their true colors: ready to steal from "inactive" users to enrich themselves.  Pretty much the opposite of the bitcoin premise.

This is not the original Segwit2x, but someone hijacking the name and making the proposal even worse than the original.

It's unthinkable to me, someone intending to steal the bitcoins of Satoshi.

That can only be done by changing the rules of mining, to allow the miners to take that number of coins without knowing the private keys.

You’re probably thinking of United Bitcoin. They are doing that crap.

Although this b2x has nothing to do with the original Segwit2X fork. And they do plan to redistribute satoshis coins by some means.

The way I understand it is, they are locking of a specific amount of the first-mined blocks of the b2x chain. Starting from the genesis block and Up to 2 mil b2x, to stop them from ever being claimed by satoshi and crew. Then they are going to somehow premine 2 mil coins and distribute them “fairly to all their loyal supporters”. Whatever da fuk that means.

I think you are right, that is United Bitcoin, but whichever one this is, if they think it is okay to steal Satoshi's coins while trying to cover it up by using phrases like "redistributing" or "distributing" to cover up that fact, it is a bad idea with a bad precedent being set.
