Looks like there have been some crazy returns available for those investing in ICOs mid-2017.

Is it a case of being too late to the party now given the sheer number of ICOs occurring and potential cannabilisation of available funds?

I've put small amounts of money in to some over the past month or so, purely due to curiousity and FOMO. However, after having educated myself a bit more over these I am confident that circa 20% I've entered are scams (which is cool) but equally a few with definite legitimacy and purpose.

Just curious to hear others views and any success/failure stories?

ICO is really a good channel to get new money, and the rewards are good, but that doesn't mean there is no bubble and you need to be careful.

Understood - I ran some numbers as at 24/12/2017 and the figures suggested that 69% of tokens that made it to an external exchange would result in a profit (i.e greater than 1x over and above the average token price).

The median return was 4x - average return 38x.

Note however that this is just taking a single price data point, which may be +3 months from ICO for some tokens and a matter of weeks for others and thus does not consider return at maturity.

This is using information from tokendata.io

Do you guys have any success stories for ICOs you have been involved in?

I have invested in the following for various different reasons:

WAX - very optimistic of legitimacy and genuine business success
INS - very optimistic of legitimacy and genuine business success
Naga - unsure
Cashaa - big following but rather disappointed with the lack of professionalism which leads me to believe it is all smoke.

Davorcoin, Ucoincash and Eigencoin - some of the hilarious lending platforms which are undoubtedly a ponzi scheme (purporting to provide over 1% interest per day - so funny that some people believe this is genuine) - just looking to gain off the token price rise as people rush to pour their cash away in these schemes.

You can earn a lot of money in ICOs if it is success,if not you wont have a good return thats why it is very risky to participate.

Yeah ICO has a time line that  well stated in their road map so if you invest ICO don't expect fast profit it will just follow how time frame being defined and also how their flat form being defined and some are having monitoring how their taken sale performance the percentage of sale being shown graph that sign good ICO were they are emphasizing transparency to their investors, so before before investing you should look for this kind of project developer who will never left you in worst scenario.

Does anyone know of any personal blog/journals out there where an individual is documenting their investments and progress in a forum? Haven't been able to find any but would be really interesting to see.

The ICO has made a huge profit for many people, but a few have invested in the wrong ICO, leaving them with nothing.

90% of the ICO's ,in which I participated, brought me a profit. But I carefully collect information before investing. Now I very rarely invest in ICO, because now often on the exchange tokens can be bought cheaper than on ICO Undecided.

you can make good profit when you invest in good ICO. however alot of ICO are quickly dumped after crowdsales but some of them especially those ones with working products might take some time before being dumped. i invested in couple of ICO this year like Hedge and Postoken Airdrop. I also use to set target for myself and i can boldly tell you that I made 100% profit on the token. the problem with some investor is that they are gullible and they dont set target for themselves. Token price cannot continue to rise forever

I give you my success story with icos, I've participated in so many icos. Zero protocol which gives me 5x return for my investment, bread has given me almost 3x from my investment. I've got a lot of return from icos. I tell your the key to participate in the ico and you can try to choose the ico that will be sold out just in some seconds or minutes.

True, alot of us made quick profit during Q2-Q3 ICO rush, but that has die down now, as investors are getting milked, due to insane valuation of these project, investors have become wise and the quick flip we use to see has reduced, one thing I beliebe is that once you are into a good project you will surely make profit, it is just time

Interesting - so on the basis would you not necessarily look for the most legitimate ICOs (i.e. in terms of long term success of the business). I guess this falls in with the (ponzi scheme) lending platforms I mentioned earlier in the post which were sold out in minutes. Examples include Davorcoin and Ucoincash?

Hi - no weighting, I didn't see the significance for the analysis?

Still performing analysis on the data so won't be sharing anything just yet.

A successful ICO can give you x10000 profits but in the otherside a failed ICO wont give you a lot,and if you didnt researched well the ICO you have joined might be just a scam,we need to research hard.

It is possible to make money in ICO if you invest in good projects. Out of 10 ICO I invested in 2017, 8 of them are in profit. Overall, my investments in ICO is bringing more than 3 times book gain as of now.
