Verge has become a symbol of one of the most rapid increases in cryptocurrency history. Several-week increases of up to 1000% have attracted the attention of many investors to this token. However, such dynamic growth was also not without controversy.

The XVG Price Rally started roughly at the same time as the John McAfee tweets, showing Verge as a cryptocurrency “which can’t lose.” From December 13th to the 21st –seven days– it gained 800%. This has generated great interest among many people in the crypto-community.

I was asking myself several times how it was possible for a currency to raise  $800 just because some famous one made a compliment, that increase was very exaggerated and reddit of them seems that have only people who think only of profits and are so convinced that this coin is the best currency of the world.

Let's look at this comment:

Well this was a rough week. On Christmas the scammers got a lot of new investors. Right now a hacked twitter account is getting the same people (hopefully not) and some new victims.

Lets analyze here:

John says he does not own a twitter account but if you go to his official youtube account and click the instagram link it links you to his account. And in that same account he has the prediction of it hitting $15.
Use some common sense. In his hacked message he says possibly $0.15. At the time it was posted WE WERE ABOVE $0.15. Just goes to show his prediction was already met and there are new heights.
Honestly at this point idc if you have a family and kids to feed. If you fell for this shit twice then I pity you and you deserve to be out of all your money. Your weak minds ruins it for the rest of us and the scammers are laughing at you right now.

And if someone bought a coin for the price of 1000 satoshi and that same person would create a fake twitter account and that person would make many praise about that coin, people would be so convinced that the currency is very good and the price of the coin would increase 1000% making the scammer rich. This is a very possible scenario, because in the world of altcoins is full of greedy

This has been done multiple times by pumpers, but also by the Chinese in the early days of Chinese trading.
Do you remember how the price was going up after the Gox fiasco, regaining some of its value, while some Chinese insiders were tweeting about some leaked news straight from the conference room, causing a huge dump. If you were that "insider" you could sell, tweet, wait 1-2 days and rebuy more at a low, wait a week or 2 for it to recover, dump, tweet again... As for John, he's been playing a coin pumper lately with his altcoin predictions for 2018.
