Hi, it seems that USB miner proposed in the other thread is not going to happen because high difficulty will punish small devices.

Nevertheless - it might still be interesting to have another small mining device - around 10 Ghash per sec.

The most important thing is to stay competitive and help spreading mining power around the world.

So the question is :

If you are going to buy one, what price would be reasonable at the end of August ?

Please note this is not a preorder, just a survey of interest.

If the difficulty:price ratio doesn't change for the worse dramatically and if you can deliver within EU by the end of August I'd pay $260 for a 10 GH/s ASIC with shipping included (EU). I'd probably order at least a few.

You want to be less than $40 per GH/s  KCMiner is going for around $20 per GH/s but of course that's a much higher GH/s unit, I expect to pay a premium for lower GH/s devices that are actually shipping.

Whatever the price I think it should be in BTC. The larger devices carry more risk so it's important to have a payment that's protected and refundable. The smaller devices need to support the Bitcoin economy and should assist it in boosting it's liquidity and therefore assist in increasing the overall BTC price because there will ate a greater frequency of small purchases. Cool

Hi, thanks for ideas, I think that the price should be in BTC as well.
Waiting for some components still, hopefully test results will be available next week,
and hopefully the price will be below 50 USD per Ghash/s.
Net speed is around 3.6e14 hash/sec now.
1 BTC is around 106USD which translates to price below 0.47BTC per Ghash/s

I have to agree, the .25BTC per Gh/s would be a great place to be...so about 2.5 BTC per unit

One of the keys to the ASICMINER USB Miner's success has been availability.  If it's going to take 2 months to produce this it will be a completely different market by then.  Plus to mimic the success of the current USB's you'll need a lot of capital.
Just saying timing is big, big deal.
