Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

If anyone is serious about taking up his offer: Pool up with other people in a collection to get 2000 BTC pledged towards this by trusted users. (Or have a trusted third party hold the money in a seperate wallet untill 2000 is reached.)

You don't really need trusted users except genjix himself. He can give out one of his addresses that anyone can put money into until it receives a total of 2000 BTC. At that point, the name change can happen.

2000btc is 17,000 dollars.
Are you sure you wanna set the pool THAT high?

I vote for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot
Sounds good during first-last name introductions.
Spells WTF
and Tango isnt a bad middle name, it'd basically be your new nickname

Well, I wouldn't change my name for any less. Would you perhaps be willing to change your name for less?  Grin

What would be a fair offer at the current exchange rate:  500 BTC?  250 BTC?

If Genjix is serious, or there's another taker, I'd be happy to open something on GLBSE to accumulate donations and act as a trustee.  (My bitcoin-otc ident is tied pretty well to my real world identity.  You can track down me or my place of employment pretty easily.)

30 Days to raise the total money, or it gets returned to donors at no cost.  After that 30 days for proof of the name change?  Or perhaps that might need to go in installments, given gov't bureaucracy and big business.  Something like:

X Days for proof of legal name change. 25% payout.

X Days for proof of new driver's license.  next 25%

X Days for credit cards.  Next 25%

Final payment after it's been established that the name change has been valid for a year.  Final 25%.

Put up a vote put up to shareholders if a milestone gets missed, in case the person can show a good faith effort that the hold up isn't on their end?  If for example, the state they live in has a waiting period or something.
