I have a random question.  I held my BTC on coinbase for a long time before I knew anything about forks.  Since I held by BTC on coinbase at the time of the BCH fork, though coinbase didn't support the fork, where would my BCH end up?  TIA

I'd assume they didn't support the fork and kept that BCH for themselves. I don't think you have a way of getting that back.

It's the downside of using web wallets; they get to control a lot of your functionality because you allow them to in return for ease of use. That's the reason many people say to stay away from web wallets. They can end up using their customers and exploiting them. Look into what Bittrex has been doing with their users, it's pretty disgusting.

This area is up for grabs! PM me if you're interested.

that's what I figured. kinda shitty IMO.  I would love to know if coinbase actually got any BCH from users who held BTC during the fork.  not sure how much BTC is held on coinbase, but that number could be massive and worth millions!

You will get it according to them but it was scheduled on 2018. (ETA is January 2018).

Coinbase WILLnow support bitcoin cash and all of their users who held bitcoin at them at the time of the fork will have their shares of BCH. Just wait if Coinbase will now fully open BCH deposits and withdrawals as currently, they does not yet support the BCH blockchain.

Funny my bch has been in my wallet on CB for a while

No reason for it not to be in your wallet

But my BTC was there for years

I am wondering why are you are asking this question. Coinbase has already distributed the BCH to all the users who held Bitcoin at the time of BCH fork. You should check the "accounts" section of your Coinbase dashboard.

I held BTC at the time of the fork, but I do not have anything in that account for BCH.  any ideas how to rectify this.  email coinbase?

Maybe their service on providing BCH has a delay.
They promised to add it on January, 1st

I would open a support ticket.

missing bitcoin cash on coinbase?
really? What I know because coinbase is a trusted wallet or money changer
maybe you have never used your coinbase and automatically refreshed and got the site
always active or always open the cp to find the acount always active
because everything has expiration
so you should always look
That's the only one you can advise because if you have a real wallet you have to put it in different wallets
such as btc address 100% genuine and ineffective fraud
